Not having kids is a life hack. I spend my summers in Europe, take cross-country road trips, and disappear off-grid on weekends. The money I’d spend on kids goes to investing, experiences, and freedom. Different priorities. Different definition of rich.

We've hit a tipping point: you can now build a tool from scratch faster than Googling to see if a tool already exists. I was so frustrated with LinkedIn UI. All I wanted to do was to find everyone I met in NYC last month. So I asked Claude Code to build me a Chrome extension to export my newest 500 connections in JSON, and build some sort of external viewer. Less than 10 minutes later, I was stunned that I had a working Chrome extension, and an Electron app that navigated and searched the contacts — next, I created keyboard accelerators that copied info to my clipboard, opened up their profile page, etc. I found almost everyone I needed to, and was able to contact them. I saw many of them at an online event I ran yesterday! Amazing! I am blown away. I've never written a Chrome extension before, and I've always been too scared to write an Electron app. Lesson: You can write apps so easily these days. All the time you spend fretting about scariness of a tech stack is better spent just trying to build it. Someone quipped: it's the age of "write once, run once." i.e., you can build apps so quickly, it's worth it, even if you use it only once! It's so true: start vibe coding the tools you need now!! (The Vibe Coding book that I wrote with @steve_yegge shows you how — it's easier than ever!)

@ParissAthena we moved to a new house and the fridge whistles when you open it and it feels borderline inappropriate

There is some bug in the Vision Pro with Macbook virtualization that after about an hour the render performance starts to drag and really slow down. Disconnecting/reconnecting fixes for now. Hopefully fixed soon.

Hey squad - is anyone still on this? Trying to decide if I should come back after many months away. Me with some camellias doing construction work instead of being on Twitter 🌸

@marcdel The point I’m making is that Biden is clearly bad for the economy. Maybe we should elect someone from a different sector or 40 years younger or some shit

@kenwheeler agreed, but the point it sounds like you’re making is “trump was just as good for the economy” which is p hilarious. if that’s not what you’re saying, i apologize, but you ain’t makin it easy to understand

@marcdel I honestly don’t care about anything other than the power of the dollar. Literally anything. Until that’s fixed, I can’t be bothered

@engineering_bae @randomrecruiter 🤞🏼but probably 90% of the time i ask (the recruiter) for feedback i get some variation of no. i’ve had better luck asking the interviewer to do a quick plus/delta—what went well, what should i do differently next time, what reservations do they have, etc.
