It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul… W E Henley

Starlink
Starlink@Starlink·
Starlink Mobile is providing free connectivity to @MASORANGE_ES and @movistar_es customers in regions affected by the wildfires near Madrid. Families, communities and businesses with compatible LTE smartphones can now stay connected through SMS even if terrestrial networks are not available and customer phones will automatically connect to Starlink Mobile. Coverage will work best with a clear view of the sky.

PIB par habitant US : 80 000 $. France : 45 000 $.

A strong and secure open ecosystem is important for the world to benefit from AI. We’ve always supported and contributed heavily to open source and science from Jax to Transformers to AlphaFold to Gemma open models which have now been downloaded 300M+ times. And the standards framework we’ve proposed supports responsible deployment of both open and proprietary models.
Jensen Huang@JensenHuang

For my first post, I’m sharing a letter @NVIDIA signed on why open models matter. AI will transform every industry, power every company, and be built by every country. Open models strengthen safety and cybersecurity, accelerate innovation and diffusion, and enable sovereignty. The world needs both frontier closed models and frontier open models. images.nvidia.com/pdf/Open-Weigh…

As @zannymb spoke to @elonmusk, @TheEconomist released an article about my book Suicidal Empathy yesterday. Apparently, I'm some marketing guy and a podcaster, and I'm trying to usher a world bereft of empathy because you know the Lebanese Jew is a Far Right leader. They are such hacks. It's unreal.

We’re proud to have @DoorDash be an updated signatory of this letter. We fully support America being the world’s AI leader. Open weight models are crucial to that future Thank you Jensen and Satya for your leadership here. We stand behind you 🇺🇸

This was a difficult piece to write. It was also necessary. I am one of the 8,711 victims warned that our attackers could be released early under Labour’s scheme. People should know who stands to benefit. Malcolm James, then in his late fifties, kidnapped me in 2019, shortly after my fourteenth birthday. He held me for several hours and repeatedly sexually assaulted me. I remained silent until Sarah Everard disappeared. She was abducted from a road that crosses the one from which I had been taken. I feared that the same men were responsible, and that my silence had allowed it to happen again. James was convicted of five sexual offences against a child. He is a repeat offender with previous convictions, including for violence. I already believed his eight year sentence was inadequate. Now he may be released earlier still. Andy Burnham has promised to review this scheme. He must exclude rapists, child sex offenders and repeat violent criminals. I refuse to have spent longer securing justice than James spends in prison.
