This week in Salima, AFIDEP, through the Advancing Domestic Health Financing (ADHF) project, is training technical team members from Malawi’s Ministry of Health, Ministry of Finance, World Health Organisation and Kamuzu University of Health Sciences in producing and using National Health Accounts (NHA) data. NHA is essential for tracking health financing and informing policy decisions to allocate resources effectively. The training aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of technical officers in data interpretation. During the training, participants will develop a NHA Roadmap to further continuity in evidence-based decision-making.

AFIDEP, through the Advance Domestic Health Financing (ADHF) project, is conducting a Basic Financial Management Training for health facility managers and health management teams from Nyandarua County. The training, happening in Ol Kalou, will equip participants with the skills needed to manage revenue and budget effectively, especially under the Facility Improvement Financing (FIF) Act and the Social Health Insurance (SHI) Act. By empowering facility managers to manage resources, this initiative will ensure "more money for health" and "more health for the money" in Nyandarua! The activity is part of our collaboration with @KenyaGovernors, USAID HERO and @Amref_Kenya. #HealthFinancing #UHC

Investing in healthcare is not just a matter of well-being; it’s a strategic move for economic prosperity. Kenya, like many other nations, grapples with a complex web of health challenges, from infectious diseases to non-communicable ailments, all intertwined with broader socio-economic dynamics. By prioritising health, Kenya can unlock its economic potential and foster inclusive growth. NATIONAL HIGH-LEVEL DIALOGUE ON HEALTH FINANCING The Government is keen to ensure all Kenyans have access to quality and affordable health services without suffering financial burden. Achieving Universal Health Coverage however, requires not only financial resources but also a comprehensive understanding of the strategies that can enhance our health financing system by all stakeholders. It has been established that lack of financial risk protection mechanism has been the greatest obstacle to achievement of sustainable health financing, leading to a considerable burden on individuals and households resulting to catastrophic health expenditures. In view of the foregoing, the Ministry of Health is currently hosting the National High-Level Dialogue on Domestic Resource Mobilization for Sustainable Health Financing towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Kenya. The overall objective of this Dialogue is to mobilize and bring together all relevant stakeholders to jointly assess our progress, identify challenges and build consensus on health financing reform priorities. Kenya has been recognized as one of the African countries that have made notable strides towards the African Leadership Meeting (ALM) 2019 commitment by increasing its health care budget allocation, enabling greater investments in health infrastructure, human resources and medical supplies. This dialogue is a show of commitment to sustain the momentum. The three day meeting brings together delegates with a wealth of knowledge and expertise to chart a transformative course for our healthcare system anchored on effective collaboration, innovative solutions and shared goals to ensure that that every Kenyan has access to quality healthcare that “leaves no one behind” .
