@trq212 engineers in the physical world have always been able to spend more than their salary on parts now byte engineers finally have a similar outlet of spend

an increasingly large part of the job of an engineer is deciding how much compute to spend on a problem

I am dusting off jax-js.com and will be working on it a bit more — expect to see some inference-focused perf improvements coming up soon :) Also thinking about totally rewriting the Wasm backend, we can make it ~100x faster with SIMD + web workers + better codegen

the claude desktop is so powerful because of the agent teams and browser tools integration +CI but half the time it is breaking and slow would be great to see it get better

@BarefootStudent are there just like really few comp eng/chipmaking etc roles, it always has had really high unemployment for new majors

1-2 yrs ago the story was always "AI-for-code works pretty well so far but soon AI-for-every-other-vertical will catch up" Instead, code just got another 100x bigger...
