Dr, I will be the first to defer to you on the specifics of your terminal benefits but on the broader financial architecture, this is actually my turf. Let’s separate two things (1) UNZA’s staff liability and (2) GRZ’s annual grant + legacy debt. Treasury has released K3bn+ since 2024 to clear civil servants arrears; parastatals including UNZA were given a parallel window. UNZA Council minutes of Nov 2024 & Feb 2025 show that the university has received four tranches toward its K4bn debt but still carries internal arrears because (a) the institution skipped employer contributions for years and (b) lump sum payouts are being staged. That’s why management wrote staff on 12 Feb 2025 advising that the next release is “subject to MoF schedule.” So you’re right Govt still owes UNZA but in the same breath, UNZA owes its staff. That loop closes only when verified lists are cleared; exactly what the President referenced. Hundreds have already been paid under phased releases; more files are under audit (your own words “others deserve to be paid before me”) That’s precisely the point. Also note that what Govt owes UNZA is a broader operational debt (including grants, infrastructure arrears etc) and it’s up to UNZA to prioritize how it applies those resources, including toward staff dues. I submit!
Sishuwa Sishuwa@ssishuwa

Brian, learn to keep quiet on matters where you are genuinely ignorant. There are so many things in your post that are simply false. Take, for instance, your assertion that "Dr. Sishuwa worked for UNZA & the reason he hasn’t been paid is because UNZA has failed to remit its share." This is simply false. I am an authority on the money I am owed by the university and why it has not been paid. UNZA has formally communicated to me what I am owed in terminal benefits and explained that the reason I am yet to be paid is because the government has not released the necessary funds to the institution to enable it to pay us. I understand and know the financial position of UNZA better than you do, so please cut me some slack. I am not the only one owed; there are hundreds of my colleagues at UNZA including those who left the institution much earlier than me who are owed millions and deserve to be paid before I am, but the public institution cannot clear this staff debt if the government fails to offset the over K4bn debt it owes UNZA.

@nocapmedia The only thing "unbelievable" about this interaction was that the not one BUT TWO young males were such big pvssies, but that they recorded and posted it for all to see. The nutty little foreign guy was like 115lbs. And he tossed your bike. For Christ's sake. DO SOMETHING.

Over the years a lot of friends have privately nudged me to consider a political career. I’ve been reluctant because (a) it felt cliche (b) I prefer business and love what I do. Recently though…I’ve been wondering whether there’s a point at which one stops complaining and instead becomes part of the solution. Maybe more youngsters need to join the parliamentary arena? That being said it’s never wise to be delusional. So what do you reckon? I’m entirely undecided, but your feedback will be useful.

@ngomabest196 My understanding is foreigners can't own land in Zambia. 100% no on customary land, and for title only permanent residents (living for 10 straight yrs) are able to. And only businesses with 75%+ Zambian ownership can buy land. Maybe I'm wrong?

@WaluuK Everyone should consider the ROI of getting a degree (before spending the time and money) Carefully select the school and the discipline. And understand what role education plays...try to make money first, then decide with better clarity.

@ADnD_2e @PicturesFoIder I don't live in the Bay Area - I got off a plane, took the BART into town, snacked on some food, could never have imagined not being allowed to. If I was told by someone I definitely wouldn't resist though. I'd say sorry and put it away.

@ThrillaRilla369 starting around the age of 11 this was the case for me in the 90's. People seemed outwardly friendly. Any problem, many people were there to help. I think the internet has warped how we behave. that and lack of walking or biking to get places.

The Ivanpah solar power facility in California is shutting down next year. The 2 BILLION dollar blight built on 3,500 pristine acres of Mojave desert has been responsible for incinerating more than 60,000 birds, created TWICE the pollution of a typical power plant, created 86 jobs instead of the promised 2000, and will abandon 173,500 thermal collectors in the environment they were trying to save

@CollinRugg We use to look down on those who did bat flips in baseball, and touchdown celebrations in football. Now we embrace it. Fact is they are good for the sport. As long as the celebration isn't putting someone else down, it's great in my view.

NEW: California track athlete breaks down in tears after her California state 400-meter gold medal was taken from her after she celebrated too much. Clara Adams was seen spraying her feet with a fire extinguisher after finishing in first place. The 16-year-old is devastated, saying she will "never get that moment back." "Even if everything goes in my favor … in regards to like getting my title back, I’ll still never get that moment back, like standing on the podium as a sophomore. I’ll never get that back ‘cause they took it from me." Adams was disqualified for "unsportsmanlike conduct."

VOLUNTEERING IS NOT A FORCED ARRANGEMENT, GOVT TELLS DOCTORS By Elfa Mwale Shampande Health Minister Elijah Muchima has reminded health workers that volunteering is not a mandatory pathway to employment. Speaking at a media briefing on Sunday morning, Mr. Muchima questioned the motives behind the Resident Doctors Association of Zambia (RDAZ)’s recent advocacy, stating that the association appears to be advancing the interests of volunteer doctors who may not even be part of its membership. This follows a statement issued by RDAZ on Friday, 30th May, announcing that volunteer doctors would withdraw their services effective Monday, 2nd June 2025. In response, the minister acknowledged that volunteering is a noble gesture and emphasized that those choosing to withdraw are free to do so. He reiterated that while the government appreciates the contributions of volunteer health workers, participation in such programmes does not obligate the state to offer employment. However, Mr. Muchima assured that the government will continue to prioritise volunteer health workers for recruitment, in line with the President’s directive. He also disclosed plans to meet with the RDAZ leadership to hear their concerns and work towards a mature and constructive resolution. #NewsOnTheGo
