One of the main criticisms of PR is that you lose constituency representation. This however does not need to be the case at all. It is possible to have a 100% PR system with 100% MP local representation. Here’s how 1/

The state pension should be completely abolished. Anyone who has contributed should get their contributions returned less any payments received (inflation adjusted) with a letter of apology explaining how they were defrauded. Those responsible for this crime such as senior civil servants and ministers should be prosecuted including having their assets seized.

Anyone on a pension needs to worry about the Welfare bashing… the fake narratives… it is included in the Welfare numbers being bandied around and I am pretty sure you consider it your right having paid in all those years..

NI 'contributions' have always primarily funded the pensions of people retiring *at the time* (pay-as-you-go), not a personal pot for your own retirement. That's why the 2014 Act calls it a 'benefit'. Workplace auto-enrolment gives employer match + tax relief to help where possible. Facing up to the maths on demographics isn't vile — it's necessary. What’s vile is expecting someone else to fund your retirement.

@BenGrahamUK @dum_as_hek But should be in according to the will of the people today. A significant portion of those who voted for Brexit are dead. They shouldn’t be allowed to selfishly fuck things up for young people from the grave

@theeobservist @BBCPolitics It was enacted even though it was onviously going to hurt the country for no benefit. No law can’t be reversed. Also given that many of the generation that wanted it are now dead. You still want them to be able to selfishly fuck over youngsters from the grave

OMG You will never see this on FOX News or CNN : Rahma Zein exposes how Israeli soldiers murdered a Palestinian family in the West Bank, stripped the surviving children, and punched a 12-year-old boy in the face when he asked why they killed his parents.

Real reason, that Europe won’t?…. They are afraid of their populations !! They have allowed so many Muslims who are already wreaking havoc over everything. Muslims are already marching and protesting pro Islamic Regime, can you imagine the outrage in Muslims there if the governments aid the US. Mass immigration doesn’t work and this proves it, when the governments that allowed it are scared of them.

Almost always happy to have senior officials resigning over a war I disagree with. But the antisemitic stuff in here blaming Israel for the Iraq war and a secret conspiracy of the media and Israelis to deceive Trump into going to war with Iran is ugly stuff that plays on the worst antisemitic tropes. Donald Trump is the President of the United States and he is the one ultimately responsible for sending American troops into harms way.
Joe Kent@joekent16jan19

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC. May God bless America.

Labour are going to make the UK a rule taker. They don’t dare rejoin outright, so instead they will seek to render leaving futile. What was the point of leaving, if not to take back control, and innovate? A future government will have to reverse this.
Faisal Islam@faisalislam

NEW In her interview, the Chancellor also said that this Government will realign with EU standards in any sector where there is a national interest business case, in addition to food, farm and energy deals currently being negotiated:

Almost All the UK's problems stem from illegal migration, Asylum migration or low skilled migration. Many Brits dont want to see it as its painful thing to realise. You have either voted badly or your politicians have not delivered. Every politican asks or say people cannot see a GP? Why is that? If you add thousands of people a month for years of course people cannot see a GP. Services are stretched. The UK has added 17m people in approx 25 years. Do you think the UK has improved public services, added more GPs and hospitals to match it? The UK cannot and do you know why? The UK does not have enough medical graduates and that aside Britain cannot afford to and the truth and reality is that the UK will never be able to afford to. I will be clear. The UK will never be able to afford to. The structure of the population, the future of work and industry means that the UK will never be able to afford to. No country in europe needs more low skilled labour. There are no jobs for them. You cannot tax people anymore - They are already leaving. Tax payers are leaving and people who will probably never pay any tax are coming. Your only solution is a reduction in population of people who are not citizens and do not contibute to society. You must stop the flow of people with low or no skills. There are no jobs for them.

NEW: Britain in standoff with Brussels over demand to cut university tuition fees for European students, with row threatening to scupper Keir Starmer’s planned EU reset. EU officials say European students should pay “home” fees of about £9,500 a year as part of youth mobility scheme, rather the higher international rate, which can rise above £60,000. But British negotiators have been blindsided by the demand, which they say was not mentioned in framework agreement signed last year and would cost British universities around £140m a year. Sources say the disagreement has brought talks to a near standstill with just three months left before summit in Brussels in late June or early July. @kiranstacey reports 👇 theguardian.com/politics/2026/…
