@johnnyrodgersis Good points! That's certainly how we positioned the Freemium offering over the years-- Slack stores it for safekeeping and you can access when needed. Not too dissimilar from Flickr 📸 I suspect today's team had to make a tough tradeoff on the risks in a world of new AI regs.

@markpike If it’s about AI training use that could be handled with an opt-in/out and doesn’t have bearing on deletion. I have been on many free slack teams over the years whose archives are now going to be destroyed. I have content on free web 2.0 sites that still persists 2 decades on

Today's my last proper day at @SlackHQ. I joined 11 years ago as a generalist web dev at a tiny game company. I leave as a principal engineer of a product that 10s of millions of people use every day. An education, a profound privilege, and a dream come true all in one ❤️

@zachklein @WakeForest @CP3 I was at that game at Cameron in 2004 as a college senior! CP3 so fun to watch, even as a freshman. Can't believe he's still playing meaningful basketball in the NBA and I'm a 40+ year old dude who gets winded giving my kids piggy-back rides. 😮‍💨🏀
