@Patterdude @ZavalaA Current law requires districts to set aside reserves for economic uncertainty. This makes it harder for districts to argue “ we simply don’t have the funds” to address immediate and urgent needs of their employees.

I actually would love for teachers to make more money. But school districts are broke. CTA just a couple years ago supported a $6 billion CUT form their Prop 98 guarantee. A cut! Do their members know that? Local teachers unions shouldn’t be walking out on districts… or the families that depend on them. They should be striking against state policies that have caused many districts to be in the brink of insolvency.

@RonNehring I agree this is not the time for knee jerk reactions. But whatever Democrats in Congress say, the more important audience is the American people. Trump has not presented a clear mission and has not sought the understanding and support of the nation.

We’re not our best when polarization drives us into a zombie oppositional mindset. The Dems’ oppositional mindset toward confronting the world’s top promoter of terrorism is not a good look. A failed model has given way to new opportunities, and a potentially better future.
