1/4 The PLU’s retraction of Anita Among’s endorsement isn't a sign of her weakness. It’s a confirmation of her "Political Gravity." In the mechanics of power, attention is the most reliable proxy for influence. You don't issue a formal "command" to ignore someone who doesn't matter. 2/4 Whether it's the week-long obsession with a Rolls-Royce or this "emergency" retraction, the signal is the same: Among occupies the maximum available bandwidth in the Ugandan psyche. By making her the "problem" for the President to solve, the PLU admits she is a Force Majeure. 3/4 David Kabanda acting as the "lone ranger" signatory is a tactical move. It allows the PLU to pivot without the Chairman engaging in mid-level legislative bickering. But it also signals that 'Among' is a variable that the transition engine can no longer simply "manage." 4/4 This is political antifragility in action. Every attempt to publicly distance the "command" from her only cements her status as the central figure of the 12th Parliament. You don't spend this much administrative energy on a politician you can easily kick aside. 🔑🔐The real question isn't why they withdrew the support but why they were so afraid of the first endorsement's shadow. The "Among Equation" is now the only one that matters for the 2026 transition.

Our brothers, ANC, in South Africa have built 3.3 million housing units (or RDPs as they call them) for the most disadvantaged slum/township dwellers since 1994. We can at least do 1,000,000 housing units in 10 years.

I got to meet OB1 last week for the first time. We rode to West Nile for the weekend with my comrades from @BikersUganda. Such an amazing soul. We laughed all weekend not knowing that was the first and last time we would be together. OB1 passed on yesterday after hitting a pothole in Kampala. For a man who rode allover East Africa with great precision to pass on like this is very unfortunate and sad. I will miss the adventurous comrade I was looking forward to ride with. Ride with the Angels Comrade OB1. This is very hard to take in.

While appearing before the Joint Committee on Defence & Internal Affairs and Legal & Parliamentary ( @Parliament_Ug ) Affairs, the Governor of @BOU_Official Dr. Michael Atingi-Ego concluded his submission on behalf of the bank by noting, and I quote: "True national sovereignty is built on economic strength and financial independence. While the goal of protecting national interests is legitimate, the Protection of Sovereignty Bill 2026, as currently drafted, risks reversing three decades of successful financial development through liberalisation that has sustained economic growth. By adopting these technical refinements, Parliament can safeguard the nation without compromising the world-class financial infrastructure essential for Uganda's journey to a USD 500 billion economy." Bank of Uganda, too, is simply inviting the movers of this draconian Bill to BIN IT!

Dr. Asiimwe who is a consultant urologist at Mulago National Referral Hospital and Uganda's only transplant surgeon, further warned that if Parliament passes The Protection of Sovereignty Bill, 2026, the Uganda Medical Association risks, itself risks deregistering some of its members or face criminal liability if the association receives or channels foreign funding for activities such as training grants, human rights advocacy, continuing professional development supported by international partners, and as such force the Association to be reluctant to engage in health advocacy. “The association may become reluctant to engage in policy advocacy, which is part of what we are doing, litigation, which we are also doing, public discourse on issues related to health financing, labour rights, and governance. We are going to censure ourselves and may retract from these activities, and maybe that's the intention of the law, of the bill. This fear of sanctions under the bill will undermine the association's constitutional mandate to protect the interests of the medical professionals and advocate for better health care for all Ugandans,” said Dr. Asiimwe. Dr. Asiimwe said, “We urge Parliament to recognise that medicine is not a political instrument, but a humanitarian and professional calling governed by ethics, science, and the duty to preserve life. Sovereignty is best protected by a healthy and productive population. Weakening the health system through this Bill is actually a sovereignty risk, not a protection. Therefore, the application of this bill to the medical fraternity is unconstitutional, disproportionate.” “We therefore respectively call upon the entire Parliament to oppose the bill in its current form or substantially amend it to protect Uganda's medical profession and the health of all its people. A sovereign nation is only as strong as the health and well-being of its citizens,” he added. Courtesy Photo

A law student or any other person in Uganda interested in learning the art of cross-examination should watch counsel Fredrick Mpanga’s cross-examination of a state attorney - prepared, calm, pestering, and never asking a question whose answer he did not know. Each question set sctrap ontovwhouc the poor attorney walked in. Whether the trial judge in the conduct of the case will see this is a matter in which the jury is still out there, and there are many doubters youtu.be/1i58K_cto9Y?si…

Last night after my TV show at about 00:30. After crossing the traffic lights in Ntinda on Kisaasi road, 3 young men rolled a sack I believe of charcoal in my direct lane. I noticed there was a vehicle(probably a gate away car) parked on the pavement on my left. I aimed at them on the space on my right. They scampered and narrowly avoided colliding with an oncoming car. I believe these are the paver criminals littering our city. Take care guys. @PoliceUg

SPEEDING & Careless Overtaking, usually while SPEEDING, contributed 42.3% of the reported 26,044 road crashes in Uganda in 2025, the @PoliceUg Annual Crime Report 2025 released today revealed. This has unfortunately become an annual trend. The total number of road crashes rose to 26,044 in 2025 from 25,107 in 2024. Fatal crashes increased from 4,434 in 2024 to 4,602 in 2025; serious crashes increased from 13,134 to 13,563 in 2025; and minor crashes increased from 7,539 to 7,879 in 2025. Come to think about this problem logically, the 4,602 fatal crashes are equivalent to 14 people killed every day on our roads, and 290 light omnibuses (taxis) filled to capacity with 16 people — human beings — killed every single year. Remember, the 13,563 serious crashes also translate into about 40 people every day sustaining abrupt physical disabilities. The report largely attributes the causes to driver behavior. We applaud the @MoWT_Uganda for the ongoing stakeholders’ consultations on the EPS, FIS, and related Traffic and Road Safety Act regulatory frameworks as per this schedule: Kampala — 25th March; Jinja — 26th March; Mbale — 27th March; Masaka — 30th March; Mbarara — 31st March; Hoima — 1st April; Gulu — 7th April; Arua — 8th April. This is commendable and timely, given the heavy burden of SPEEDING vehicles on our roads. Our @GovUganda needs to strengthen its efforts around driver behavior issues by prioritizing effective and efficient speed management frameworks, including drastically reducing speed limits for road sections with high vehicular traffic mixes involving vulnerable road users (pedestrians, motorcyclists and their passengers, persons with disabilities, school children, and passengers in vehicles), who remain the biggest victims of our actions. Yet they are not in charge of the vehicles that kill or injure them, causing permanent disability, loss of income, and eventually throwing victims into abject poverty. We urge our transport operators’ communities to participate positively and actively during these ongoing consultations, knowing that 6 people are killed every day as a result of speeding vehicles on our roads, as reported today and in previous years’ police reports. To the @MoWT_Uganda, as we fast-track this very important SPEED MANAGEMENT problem, we also urge you to urgently address the motorcycle safety challenge, ensure forgiving road designs and infrastructure in all upcoming road construction and improvement projects, and tackle other behavioral issues — especially fatigue, intoxicated driving, seatbelt use, and child restraints — through meaningful involvement of and investment in capacity strengthening (licensing and regulation) of our informal sector/public transport operators and drivers. This is essential if Uganda is to achieve its commitment to reducing road crash deaths and serious injuries by 50% by 2030. Our DRIVERS should be able to speak to our ROADS as they speak to their VEHICLES — for SAFER ROAD USERS and SAFER ROADS in Uganda. #ArriveAlive #TofiiraKuKkubo #Twedeko #TwedekoTofiiraKuKkubo
