I received members of the Uganda Parliamentary Forum on Social Protection, the Parliamentary Forum on Persons with Disabilities, and partners from @UNICEFUganda as well as @CSBAGUGANDA for a discussion on funding for the National Child Disability Assistance Programme. Our discussion focused on the importance of sustained and adequate financing to support children with disabilities and their families. We reflected on the daily challenges parents and caregivers face in providing care, treatment and protection for children with disabilities, often under difficult economic conditions. I reaffirmed my commitment to the cause and assured the delegation of my full support, as well as Parliament’s continued support in advancing policies and securing resources that promote the welfare, dignity, and inclusion of children with disabilities.
