@RepDean I love hearing about the Albert Hockaday story – I am Congresswoman Dean‘s sister and our family historian and I would add to this special story - that our cousin James Moriarty served in the Civil War with the New York volunteers, and died from his wounds in Spotsylvania

We wanted to take the time to read the names and contributions of African-American Civil War Veterans that are often overlooked, like my staffer’s 4th Great-Grandfather Albert Hockaday who served in the U.S. Colored Calvary, Company E 6th Regiment as a newly freed man.

Happy Juneteenth! On this day in 1865, news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached Texas. My team and I visited the African-American Civil War Memorial in DC — the museum is under renovation.

As a lifelong supporter of Israel, it has become clear to me: The Netanyahu coalition no longer fits the needs of Israel after October 7. The world has changed radically since then, and the Israeli people are being stifled right now by a governing vision stuck in the past.

Because of the Inflation Reduction Act, Medicare can finally negotiate prescription drug costs — making health care more affordable for seniors. The first 10 drugs have been announced, and I'm thankful for the relief this will bring many in PA.
