Today I spoke at @HillValleyForum about the White House’s new National AI Framework. A vital part of it is our support for the online safety of children. Our north star is parental empowerment. I want to decide which apps my kids use and for how long. Probably you do too. I don’t want the government making those choices for me.

Reflecting on what has been an amazing week and a key step in global American AI dominance under President Trump. These Middle East AI partnerships are historic and this “AI diplomacy” will help lock in the American tech stack in the region, help American companies expand there while also building infrastructure back in the U.S to continue expanding our compute capacity. This happens on top of rigorous security guarantees to stop diversion or unauthorized access of our technology. More broadly this helps pull the region closer to the U.S and aligns our technological interests in a very key moment for AI. It’s a very exciting moment and a key milestone.

It was an honor to be welcomed as a guest to the UAE by HH Sheik Tahnoon @hhtbzayed. We discussed our two nations’ AI plans and opportunities in a spirit of mutual cooperation and respect. As @VP Vance explained in his Paris speech on AI, the U.S. must make itself the partner-of-choice for our friends and allies — otherwise others will fill that gap. U.S. companies still have the best technology but we are no longer the only game in town; it is well understood that China is catching up fast. The country that builds its partner ecosystem the fastest is the one that will win this high-stakes competition. Effective AI diplomacy is vital now more than ever.

After four incredible years, I have stepped away from my role as an Operating Partner @craft_ventures . I have loved every minute working with the Craft Team and, most importantly, the Craft portfolio companies and their teams. I had two major goals coming into this role. First, to be a partner to the Craft Founders and provide their teams with the foundational knowledge they would need to interact with regulators and government leaders. I have sought to help them build lasting engagement strategies to sell to governments. I have attempted to impart my experience so they can develop a positive brand reputation that will allow our Founders to prove the value of their purpose to industry and community leaders. Second, I wanted to elevate Craft and the Craft team to be positioned as a partner to regulators and legislators as they navigate issues that impact tech and innovation. I believe I can say…Mission Accomplished! For the better part of a decade, I have had the pleasure of working with @DavidSacks. We envisioned this role together and it worked because we committed to making it work. Not only in providing quality counsel to Craft portfolio companies, but also in creating the political relationships we needed that culminated in David being asked to serve as White House AI and Crypto Czar. David, thank you for your continued friendship! I’m excited for our next opportunity to partner and work together! In many ways, I thought this would be my forever role (for those that know me, that probably sounds overly ambitious). So….what’s next! The reality is that I have missed being ingrained in the day-to-day building that I have done over my career and am excited to dive in more deeply with innovative leaders. Over the next several months, I will be dividing my time amongst a handful of innovative companies to address their unique needs in Government Relations, Public Affairs, Government Sales etc. Basically going back to my roots of building strategically and creatively. I am going to be an advocate for innovative and venture backed businesses at all levels of government. I plan to be more of a public voice for empowering American innovation and plan to write and speak publicly in support of safe innovation and the opportunities it brings to all communities. And there also may be some other surprises along the way, so stay tuned. Finally I want to say thank you to the entire Craft Ventures team. In particular our phenomenal Platform team of functional, our top notch investment team, and our incredible operations and administrative team.

David and Craft invested in Bitwise’s seed round in 2017. Over two months ago, David informed me they had to divest from Bitwise. We worked with David and the Craft team to coordinate and complete a sale of David’s Bitwise 10 holdings and Craft’s equity stake in our company. They didn’t want to sell — they were early believers in Bitwise and our mission. But David is doing public service, putting the country before himself. I’ve never been more optimistic for crypto in America than I am now with a brilliant and well informed leader like David Sacks.

But Mizuno is the most consistently revered technology amongst people I have come across and because of that, I think they have the best reputation.
