Due to some changes in my life since the election, I’m no longer able to dedicate the time I once had to my duties & the time has come for me to step down. I’m immensely proud to have given over 20 years of public service to Greenwich & had the opportunity to serve.

🌿 We want to make the Cally a greener, healthier, more welcoming place – and we want to hear your views on how we can do that. Based on what you’ve already told us, we’ve created proposals for a “liveable neighbourhood” in the area, and would love to hear your feedback. (1/3)

Here in Islington, we believe streets are more than just a route from A to B – they're community spaces, that all should be able to enjoy using. That’s why we’ve just announced exciting improvements from Nag’s Head to York Way. Find out more ⬇️ (1/3)

@JohnJohnStewart 🤦I think that those "Ministers considering" might have absolutely zero idea about road traffic legislation and what it would take to change it

Front Page of today's Times: "No new low-traffic neighbourhoods are likely to be approved, with ministers considering banning councils from using the national number plate database to enforce them. The transport secretary, has previously cut government funding from the schemes."

Interesting reflections by @gtertoolen who clearly specifies what we should be aiming at: - Avoid blaming the victim, but look at reducing the systemic elements of the danger. - And be aware that these are on the rise in the Netherlands! Read: nos.nl/artikel/247186…

@MarkLeicester7 @jonburkeUK @DucheSorotzkin To be fair - It’s not his job. So as important as the issue is and I welcome his support. He is doing this one his own time away from parliament. So effectively the same.

@jonburkeUK @DucheSorotzkin Agree in general about doing a Zoom rather than meet in person, but this is clearly more than just 1 lunch meeting. They are helping with campaigning for Lula, which is crucial for global environment. We know have damaging Bolsanoro is (rainforest etc). Bojo was on holiday.

One return flight from London to São Paulo produces more 50% CO2e than the household energy my four-person family consumes in a year. For a meeting that could take place over teams. Averting a global warming apocalypse is for the little people.
Progressive International@ProgIntl

In Brazil, members of the @ProgIntl Council – including Noam Chomsky, @jeremycorbyn, @zarahsultana, @vijayprashad, and candidate for São Paulo governor @Haddad_Fernando – gather to discuss the historic election and plan for @ProgIntl’s years ahead.

@JohnJohnStewart @BetterStreetsTH @LutfurRahmanTH Its East London ( I live kinda close by)... the drug dealing and social problems were there long before the School Street and will be there long after its removed. You know that rat running traffic is not going to solve this issue. This is somthing TH should actually focus on.

@matbono @BetterStreetsTH @LutfurRahmanTH Thanks for this Mat. The concerns local people are emailing me about are not really around convenience. It is more about social problems. They say that the closure has attracted drug dealers and other unsavory behaviour and therefore they would prefer if it was reopened.

The Mayor’s decision to rip out school streets has now garnered attention from across the Atlantic. Our borough is picking up international opprobrium on this one. Time for a re-think, @LutfurRahmanTH.

@BetterStreetsTH @LutfurRahmanTH Cute children make good copy. But the picture reveals nothing about the wider attitudes in the area which appear to be much more mixed.

Do any of the really good bits of London's cycle superhighways (yes, I know we don't call them that any more) pass through busy town centres? i.e. sufficiently wide protected lanes in places with lots of businesses and pedestrians? What other town centres are good for cyclists?

Campaign for Better Transport’s report found that people thought a well-designed pay-as-you-drive system would be a fairer and more transparent way to tax motoring because it would include EV drivers and could ensure people who drive less, pay less bettertransport.org.uk/sites/default/…
