The Human Rights Commissioner warned the Supreme Court ruling that “woman” means biological female may breach the ECHR. Why? Because he says recognising biological sex might “discriminate” against trans people. WTH! Women’s rights were not invented to be optional. He goes as far to say that asking someone their sex when accessing single-sex spaces could break their right to privacy. Why? Because it might “force” them to “out themselves” simply by confirming whether they are male or female. Women don’t get privacy from our sex.Our sex is visible. It’s the reason we’re targeted. We are raped, trafficked, harassed, assaulted because we are women not because we identify that way, but because we are born female. So when the ECHR frames biological sex as something too offensive to ask about, it is not protecting rights, it’s erasing ours and dangerously denying reality. If the ECHR can’t even define women, how can it defend us? Another reason to leave.
