@michaelgove You imposed a grammar-based curriculum on primary schools with no intellectual rationale. It was brought in for the specific reason to assess teachers (Bew Report) with the untenable justification that grammar has right/wrong answers. And the 'grammar' itself is faulty anyway.

Re: The ‘6.5% offer’, more like offence, Rishi made… 1) It's a pay cut. 2) It will do nothing to arrest the recruitment and retention crisis. 3) From everything I've read, this 'deal' in terms of funding, will actually leave schools in a worse position than when we began our action! I like most of what you say but I think there’s lots of us who want to strike. Striking cost me about £800 in last few months but that’s balanced by more than £3000 extra next year! We're getting the 6.5% whether we accept or reject. #votereject and let’s get a better deal…

What’s changed, @NEUnion? I joined teachers on all of the strike days to protect school budgets & jobs of support staff members like me. Why are you now telling your teaching members to accept much less than fully-funded & above-inflation at the potential cost of jobs like mine?

Having crunched the numbers I can confirm: the pay offer is not fully funded and has to be covered by the savings already forced upon us this is another tax on inclusive schools that employ more staff to support and will get ZERO funding for their pay increases

@NEUnion Reject the pay cut. The government needs to come clean on what's being cut to fund this. And how it will be funded after 2025.

The only reason why proper pay rises cannot be made is that banks are getting the money denied to our essential workers. There is nothing more or less to it than that.

@GalvaniseEdu @cyclingkev I’m not sure why Kevin isn’t telling us all that we get this pay rise whether we vote for it or not. It’s being pushed through regardless of the vote. Why he isn’t suggesting ‘banking’ it as well as striking to get the rise we deserve is a mystery…

@cyclingkev I think you are wrong to think ‘banking’ this is acceptable. Above inflation rises was the mandate. That wasn’t far enough. We need a camping for wage restoration.

An explainer on school funding: The school funding year is Apr to Apr, but the pay year Sept to Sept. So last year’s funding settlement to cover Apr 23 to Apr 24 had to contain an allowance for what the Govt thought pay would be from Sept 23 to Apr 24. 🧵
