@brian_armstrong The impact this is going to have cannot be understated. Asset management is mired with layers of inefficiency and tokenization with liberate that. But, there needs to be guardrails/education in place for people buying alternative funds/asset classes.

Tokenization is top of mind for many companies right now. It’s going to democratize access for 4 billion unbrokered adults, while increasing efficiency and reducing risk for all. Coinbase Tokenize can help (see link below).

True, broader access to private companies matters as fewer firms choose to go public. That said, protections are needed for both companies and investors. Private companies benefit from long-term decision making because value is only realized at fundraising or liquidity events, not repriced every quarter to meet earnings targets. While private companies often carry higher underlying business risk (size, concentration, leverage), that risk is obscured by infrequent pricing. Illiquidity doesn’t reduce volatility, it delays price discovery. For many investors, that’s a feature, not a bug, because it enforces long-term alignment. If private companies pursue tokenized equity, one potential model is a two-tier structure: • Token A: NAV-based access with limited liquidity • Token B: Optional conversion into a market-priced token where supply/demand sets price This preserves long-term capital while offering a controlled path to liquidity Is anyone offering something similar?

We need to make capital formation way easier for private companies. There's such high demand for some of the large private companies, it's actually a good example of the unintended consequences of higher regulation. Right now, companies are incentivized to stay public for too long. Companies stay private for years, and all the money is made by private/credit investors. When they go public, price performance often isn't great. There's no liquid market setting proper valuations early in the lifecycle. Eventually, you'll be able to go public entirely onchain, which will dramatically lower costs, reduce friction and increase access. Hopefully very soon!
