Fame and money corrupt people to some extent, even the good guys. ZachXBT did a lot of valuable work exposing scams, but these conflicts, big donations, and airdrops show how hard it is to stay fully independent once the spotlight and bags get heavy. Hard to escape human nature

Oh no…he sold tokens airdropped to him, the horror! He violated law to expose scammers? Great…that means he took personal risk to help others. Zach has not done anything wrong. “First post”, “small Euro country”. Sounds like someone got upset for being called out and paid for a hit piece. This is too fucking obvious. Didn’t one of the exposes recebtly target a dude from a rich Russian family? This looks like a 90s style hit piece against a target. Highly aggressive but typical. Did the investors in the company do EDD for political risk and ties with the domestic political class? Relationship with sanctioned companies? If the cap table invested from an entity that’s onshore, then there is no Reg-S exemption and then @SECGov can investigate a foreign national putting an American citizen at risk using domestic capital. What if Zach ends up getting hurt now, publically? Can write it off to him “being exposed and had lots of enemies”. Can provide plausible deniability for something bad happening. Just a frame. Either way, irresponsible. Do not put OSINT reporters in harms way.
