@ChimeraX2021 @salingergregor The translation is wrong, they're complaining about the width of the aisle (necessitated by the ridiculous 2+3 layout on a train that's already narrower than the mainland equivalents, while you'll rarely find 2+3 on the European mainland outside the Iberian peninsula).
English

@Rob722656571901 @salingergregor The point is that fitting 5-abreast seating onto such a narrow train is crazy.
English

@salingergregor Dirty trains is never acceptable,
Says as much about some of the people riding the trains as it does the operators. Not just a Scotland thing either. Track gauge? Surely that’s just a consequence of building the first railway!
English

@FrankChick82053 @vojtasTS29 @salingergregor That doesn't explain the decision to keep running trains with 2+3 layouts on a smaller loading gauge. The train pictured was surely not built or designed by Victorian engineers.
English

@vojtasTS29 @salingergregor The gauge is exactly the same in the UK as in Austria. The loading gauge, is smaller as the Victorian rail engineers who built the first world's first rail bridges and tunnels 10 years before the first trains started in 🇦🇹, were unaware that people would be bigger in the 2020s.

Nederlands

@knipwet @hetisemma Typisch vrouwelijke reactie.
“Het is zo zielig”. Kom op, die palestijnse kutkindjes lopen over 10-12 jaar met een bomgordel onder hun trui de bus in. En dat wil Israël terecht voorkomen.

@ewoud_storm @LordMudkip73 @ThatGarthGuy @llwtydeer I'm much happier with that than the complete lack of diversity in, say, Austria or Germany.
English

@LordMudkip73 @ThatGarthGuy @llwtydeer Take a look at the state of the Dutch parliament to see the lack of electoral thresholds in action
English

@ewoud_storm @ThatGarthGuy @llwtydeer this is thresholds in action, seems much worse than what the Dutch have imo
proportional democracies should be proportional. if 3% voted for a party, those 3% should be represented

@FrappuccinoSlim @nikicaga There are none.

Senhit is probably one of the most famous Eritreans alive
sophia / avid ¹⁶@s3tm3free_
i need to know Senhit’s backstory. why has she gone to ESC three times for San Marino.
English

@MReynosoa97_2 @FrappuccinoSlim @nikicaga It "worked" because there are no rules regarding nationality. Any participating country can send anyone they like, really. Obviously participating countries might set themselves rules about who they send but there are no contest-level rules
English

@FrappuccinoSlim @nikicaga Senhit is Italian. She was also born near San Marino. But for people who are not from the countries competing like Florida or Celine Dion, I don't know how that worked.

@jamiesont @Gr3ant They haven't invented a phone battery that lasts forever yet.

Apple Pay free to use at every tube station (or your debit card)
Apart from Zip cards (under 16s) and the over 60's card, who uses an Oyster in London in 2026???
martha@mxmsworld
Oyster cards are now £10.50 with nothing on it. @TfL you lot are criminals. Hate you down.

@luktelkfinoaqui Totally uninteresting to tweet something like this without mentioning anyone you'd rather have seen win.

I still can't believe nor understand why Austria won in 2025..

@PaulJohnson65 @liam43102 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Train_ove…
Surely there are reasons that this issue has a Wikipedia page and is a political issue in the UK, while the same is not true of the places I mentioned.
English

@PaulJohnson65 @liam43102 The stories I hear of crowds on UK trains seem to be UK-only in a European context. Haven't experienced it myself, guess I was lucky in my limited (off-peak) experiences on Southern and Greater Anglia, but at the same time you often hear of XC trains that are far too short.
English

For the one millionth time, you cannot “overbook” a train. We have a walk up railway. Think of it like a bus, not a plane. Passengers with flexible tickets pick their train. Seat reservations are free. If we had a reservation only railway, those standing wouldn’t be travelling.
Susie Goss@SusieMGoss
Hi @GWRHelp, what compensation are you offering to passengers who’ve paid £90 to travel on the massively over-booked, standing room only 19:04 train from Paddington to Plymouth? How can you force people to stand for hours when tickets cost so much? Disgusting!
English

@MrPlsGodNo @liam43102 @mattijackson I'm not in favour of compulsory reservations, so I'm not sure why you're writing this in response to me.
English

@matthiasposting @liam43102 @mattijackson x.com/simply_railway…
Oh, what could possibly go wrong with compulsory reservations 🥴 you’re going to explain to all the pay that they are not leaving pount A for the upcoming days? Like you’re going to explain it to them, right? 😂
Simply Railway@Simply_Railway
@OUIGO just cancelled my trip to the Alps for this Sunday, looking for an alternative solution…. Well! Thank you for your Reservation Obligatoire 🫶
English

@liam43102 @mattijackson There clearly is another alternative to be found, seen in countries that don't have compulsory reservations yet still manage to avoid chronically overcrowded trains
English

@mattijackson The alternative is compulsory reservations. No seat res? No travel. Want flexibility? Tough.

@Fahadnaimb @sammik727 If this was during pushback and the instruction was to arm the slides, why did the slide deploy if the FA opened the door instead of arming it? Surely the instruction being given means that the door was not armed, meaning that opening it accidentally wouldn't deploy the slide
English

@sammik727 BA uses 'Cabin doors to automatic' as standard. Most US & other airlines say 'Doors to armed' instead. Both mean the same thing .... arm the slides
English

Picture this... it's your second day as a British Airways flight attendant and you’re already living the aviation nightmare. 😅
Yesterday afternoon (May 16), on BA217 from Heathrow T5 to Washington Dulles, a brand new crew member on literally his second flight ever heard the captain say 'Cabin doors to automatic' during pushback... and thought it meant 'open the damn door.'
Boom... he yanks the handle on Door 3L. Emergency slide deploys full send onto the tarmac. Fire trucks roll in thinking it's a real evac. The 26-year-old Boeing 777-200ER (G-VIIY) sits there for over SIX HOURS while engineers swap the slide and check everything.
That one mistake cost BA a fortune... new slides aren't cheap, plus lost slots, crew hours, etc. Passengers were stuck on the plane or gate for ages.
As someone who's been through the training, they DRILL this into you: door ops are sacred. One wrong move and you're suspended + retraining. Poor guy must be mortified.
