Violence is never condoned. This however is a friendly reminder that Melissa Hortman, a seated Democrat, was tragically killed alongside her husband and dog just a few months ago. It was targeted attack at her home by a Trump supporter. This story was swept under the rug.

All the comments saying, Don't use her like this for this vote, miss the point. There's nothing wrong with what @GrageDustin stated, and many—if not most—believe she died because of this vote. This post is spot on.

Last night, Minnesota officially signed into law:
• The largest tax cut in state history
• No new taxes
• Repeal of free healthcare for illegal immigrants
This was only possible because of Democrat Leader Melissa Hortman.
We disagreed on just about every issue—but she was the only House Democrat willing to meet in the middle and deliver real results for Minnesotans.
It’s heartbreaking that she’s gone. Her leadership in this moment will not be forgotten, and her legacy will live on long after all of us.
Life is fragile. Hold your loved ones close.
Political violence is never acceptable.

Melissa Hortman was a light to all of us in the #mnleg world.
As a reporter, I didn’t have the personal relationship with her that others might have had, but I believe that no one needs to earn the right to grieve.
Her incredible legacy will outlive the pain of her loss.

This is exactly the kind of dangerous and harmful rhetoric we need everyone to call out and condemn.
This is the watershed moment where things need to change.
This was posted one day after my friend — one of Minnesota’s elected representatives — and her husband were assassinated in a politically-motivated attack. One day after another elected representative and his wife took 17 bullets from the assassin.
We cannot accept this from a sitting United States Senator. Everyone – on both sides of the aisle – needs to condemn this.
We cannot normalize political violence in America.

So I'd say AOC is done. Like done done. Newsom too is done. Josh Shapiro will keep quiet and bide his time and perhaps find an opening, but my guess is that if the Democrats want a viable presidential candidate in the next election they will need a defector from the Trump camp. The whole party seems to be outmoded now.
