A lot of commentary on what Israel and America are doing to Iran resembles the cheerleading of Hamas's survival as an armed militia even as the foundations for state and economic life were wiped out in Gaza

This, by the way, is how a scoreboard should be. (Weird how rarely it’s done right). Went beyond 90’ too. If it could actually show replays as well, that would be the business. Keep saying this, I know, but stadium giant screens without replays are largely pointless.

@StevenNekhaila Substitute the person and Israel for parent and child. You can get so mad at your kid that you can't speak, but ultimately it's fleeting. Don't take that quote as "a ha, Israel bad!" it's merely a "we have such a close relationship, sometimes we're going to drive each other nuts

“Every President I worked for, at some point in his presidency, would get so pissed off at the Israelis that he couldn’t speak. It didn’t matter whether it was Jimmy Carter or Gerry Ford or Ronald Reagan or George Bush. Something would happen and they would just absolutely go screw themselves right into the ceiling they were so angry and they’d sort of rant and rave around the Oval Office. I think it was their frustration about knowing that there was so little they could do about it because of domestic politics and everything else that was so frustrating to them.” — Robert M. Gates

The Afroman Trial. -Cops raid Afromans house for bullshit reasons. -Steal money, break his door, fuck his house up. -No criminality found whatsoever, no charges at all pressed on Afroman. -Afroman spends the next 3 years making songs that make fun of all the officers involved by name, even using footage of the raid from his own CCTV cameras. -Songs had titles like "Randy Walters is a son of a bitch" and "Lick Em Low Lisa" accusing one of the officers of being a lesbian and sleeping with the other officers wives. -During the raid one officer looked like he was about to eat some lemon pound cake sitting on Afromans counter, Afroman made a whole album calling the officer fat. -The cops get mad and file a lawsuit for defamation. -Afroman turns up to court in a whole American flag suit. -Officers performatively mald and cry while listening to the songs really trying to oversell how badly the songs upset them. -One officer was suing because Afroman made a whole song about him saying he was fucking the officers wife. When the officer was asked if Afroman was really fucking his wife, he said "I don't know". Nuking his own case and establishing that there is a non-zero chance that Afroman might actually be fucking his wife. -As his only witness for the trial, Afroman brought a deputies EX FUCKING WIFE. -The jury ruled completely in favour of Afroman. This entire thing has been a great win for free speech and absolutely fucking hilarious.

Israeli settlers have increasingly used violence against Palestinians in a bid to drive them from their homes in the occupied West Bank. But sexual assault appears to be a new weapon in these settlers’ arsenal of intimidation, pointing to a troubling new level of violence. cnn.it/4du8vj6

@maxbluer @lewis_goodall The BBC is a public service broadcaster, not a state broadcaster, because it is editorially independent, operating under a Royal Charter that prevents government control over daily output.

Angela Rayner is on course to make more than £100,000 from speaking engagements and her memoir - more than enough to pay off her outstanding tax bill and any potential fine from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) Rayner’s earning ability is enhanced by speculation that she could become the next Labour leader after the elections in May She gave a speech on January 29 to the Management Consultancies Association’s dinner for its members, for which she received a five figure sum She joined a call with City investors organised by BNP Paribas earlier this month, again for a five figure sum She and will speak at the Propertymark One conference in June - another event with a five figure payment. The conference is being held at the Excel in London with members charged £228 and non-members charged £264. There is an “after-party” which will cost a further £88. Rayner also received a five-figure advance for her memoirs, which will chart her impoverished childhood, leaving school at 16 while pregnant through to joining the union movement and becoming one of the most powerful people in the government. It will be seen as an attempt to tell her own story and project her values ahead of any leadership contest. The memoir will be released by The Bodley Head, an imprint of Vintage which in turn is a division of Penguin Random House UK. Rayner also gave a speech to Signum Global Advisors last week at an event to discuss the local elections and future policy challenges. She waived her fee and instead asked for a donation to be made to a charity in her constituency. She gave a speech at the Women of the Future Summit which was unpaid. Extraordinarily vacuous. Political opinion is your values, not a single act once every 5 years at an election. It is very, very dissimilar to your opinions on pizza toppings. 🤦‍♀️Embarrassing. A major factor in the long term success of relationships is having shared values.

“We’ve got 50% of people changing their vote every election.” Pollster James Kanagasooriam explains why it’s “strange” that some people won’t date a person with different political views. Listen to Radical with @amolrajan on @BBCSounds or watch on @BBCiPlayer

@maxbluer It has to be deliberate. And what is Amol’s excuse? Having different politics is like liking a different pizza topping?!!?! Really? He’s probably one of the highest paid “journalists” in the country for the love of god.
