@GWRHelp Don’t be ridiculous - you’re absolutely world class at delaying trains! Believe in yourself!

@GWRHelp Hi - I need to get to Cholsey but my 1720 from Paddington was cancelled. I’ve managed to get a train going to Reading but will be a few mins late to make the interchange with the 1759 Reading- Cholsey. Could you delay that departure so people on this train can make that change?

@portraitinflesh Irvine Welsh showed incredible inventiveness with form, but Danny Boyle just lit a match under it. Slow Horses - books are great (and the original idea of following the lives of reject spies is genius) but they are a bit pleased with themselves. Scripts and acting make them sing.

What are some adaptations better than their source material? Opening entry: High Fidelity (2000). Keeps everything from the novel worth having, minus Hornby's more tiresome writerly tics. Barely suffers at all from being set in Chicago rather than London. Endlessly re-watchable.

Great thread on the stunning new Bon Iver song, and why Justin Vernon is so much better than his many imitators

It's fortunate we have cinema. Otherwise what would be the point in anyone looking like Alain Delon?

This is nasty anti-immigrant rhetoric and I'm sure he's wrong here, but a lot of people going "what a maths dummy!" are also wrong - it's not mathematically impossible for this to be true, he's talking about *net* job creation. Eg. If net job creation in the UK was 200,000 and
Acyn@Acyn

Trump: Virtually 100% of the net job creation in the last year has gone to migrants In fact I've heard substantially more and actually beyond that number 100%. It’s a much higher number than that but the government has not caught up with that yet.

(again I'm sure he's wrong and doubt he's even using the logic expressed above, but it's not inherently an impossible mathematical statement to use 150% in that context)
