Saturday founder conversation: Product Market Fit. I was thinking about @pmarca’s legendary post, “The Only Thing that Matters,” so I re-read the post and called @BobBodily to chat about it. It’s easy to get distracted, but in the end PMF is the only thing that matters. I’m probably going to create some visual reminder of this to keep near my desk. One key PMF observation regarding Bioniq — we saw a real spark of user engagement with our Op_kitten collection. It’s a collection we launched in Feb where you could level up your kitten across 21 levels, but with every level there was a chance your kitten could die. Not only did we sign up 10,000 new users in 10 hours with Op_kitten, but we had many examples of users playing with their kids, screen recording the game, and generally just loving the mechanics of the game. There was a real spark of user delight, so we’re going to double down on that feedback to see if we can ignite the PMF fire. 🔥 If you played with op_kitten, what did you think?? How can we level up the nft game experience? I still have a few kittens left — you’re interested, send me a message and I’ll hook you up with a kitten so you can try it out.

Here’s a fun one! We decided a while ago we’re a no social media family. So I went ahead and made one only accessible by the kids and their cousins. They can post links, vids, pics, comment/like… Turned out pretty great @laravelphp

It’s gotten to the point where nearly every high traction article on X is just a thinly veiled promo for some product. Always starts off interesting and then “…and we couldn’t have done it without this one tool…”

Stablecoins will be used EVERYWHERE. One of the first, major crypto innovations that will be used AT SCALE, across the globe and @CurveFinance is the best place to swap them on-chain. That's the thesis in the simplest possible form. $CRV

People are freaking out about this, but: 1) I didn't mind the video at all. He's a nerdy guy not usually on camera, but so what? 2) Everyone debating this was the best possible outcome for the video. I probably wouldn't have heard about this burger otherwise...now I have.

I built a web app just so we could play a game in a product prioritization meeting. Everybody logged in with their phones and we all voted on product priority. Custom software for a single meeting. 😂

@jessewardclark Well I think I’m missing some history. It only says US and China (HK) but it should say Aruba too, I think. I would have so many more if I had used Strava when we lived in UK. I wasn’t running then. 🤷‍♂️

@thejasonkantor On #4: I think the dissonance is that all of the Alpha messaging is “we’re AI first” and yet it’s the same cost as a private school. The holy grail of AI in education will be leveraging personalization at scale while eliminating cost as a barrier.

The critiques I’ve personally seen/heard of Alpha school fall short: 1. Kids get too much screen time because of the use of AI -Most students already get a lot of screen time because of Chromebooks which yield worse results -I’m not saying high screen time is ideal but if it leads to exceptional results and is only 2 hours of the day, thats definitely better than what a lot of students do (for worse results) 2. Its not a real school -It looks different than a typical school but thats good - they are producing so much better results -Parents are happy, students are happy - thats what matters most as schools are made to serve them (supposedly...) 3. Its not a real school because students aren’t reading books -I’m sure the students read books but let’s assume for a moment they don’t read books…. -The students are out performing their book reading counterparts so what does that mean? -I’m not implying reading books are only necessary for test scores and I certainly hope their students do read books (its obviously important) -But as far as one of a school's main objectives - high test scores - Alpha is doing great 4. Its too expensive -People have and continue to pay more for less effective schools… It seems impossible for a school to have it *all* (whatever that means) but they seem pretty damn close And I say all of this as someone who doesn't work there, isn't sponsored to say this, and has no real reason to share this other than I am a teacher who supports a great school and am happy they are serving parents and students in a phenomenal way If people have a different experience, please share it - I just haven’t seen anything negative about them (which obviously means it could be out there and probably is, I just personally have not seen it)

Spring break 2023: Cancun 2024: Paris 2025: Puerto Rico 2026: ??? Was originally going to take the family to Mexico City, procrastinated, didn’t get tickets on time, and now… maybe I’ll wait a bit. Direct flights to Ogdensburg are cheap, I should figure out what that is.

Who is Rork actually targeting? Everybody I see posting about Rork feels squarely in the category of mindlessly one-shotting app functionality to match high-revenue, low competition ASO terms, for maximum subscription extraction with minimal effort. We're getting looksmaxxing and interior design candy apps because they drive clicks for high threshold "pain" on Tiktok. But do you really care about these problems? - What about passion? - What about taste? - What about delightful experiences? - What about the interactions that are only solved by people who truly experience the pain that an app is solving? I don't have anything against Rork, it's probably a great tool. But let's build things that really matter to us.
Rork@rork

Introducing Rork Max AI that one-shots almost any app for iPhone,  Watch, iPad,  TV &  Vision Pro. Even Pokémon Go with AR & 3D. Max is a website that replaces Xcode. Install on device in 1 click. Publish to App Store in 2 clicks. Powered by Swift, Claude Code & Opus 4.6.

I realize this doesn't help you immediately, but I just ordered the Saucony Endorphin Azura for an everyday. Heard some great things about it, might be worth checking out at the store. For Mizuno: last year I ran in the first version of the Neo Vista for an everyday shoe. Its a unique combo of soft but propulsive. Not sure how V2 relates, but could also be worth checking out.

Hit me with your top daily trainer recommendations. Currently I’m on my second pair of Asics Novablast 5, which is my favorite daily shoe since Nike ZoomX Invincible 2 (sadly they butchered v3). I like something with a bit of cushion and pop. Not a fan of the basic trainers like Nike Pegasus, they are fine quality just not for me. Some models I’ve tried on •Adidas Evo SL Everyone seems to love this shoe. It felt pretty good in the store, there was just something slightly off in the fit (Adidas has been like that for me). I chose the Novablast 5 over it. Maybe I need to try it on again. •Nike Vomero (Plus) Tried both models, just “meh” for me. I love Nike racing shoes, their trainers are hit or miss New Balance and Saucony stores are on my to visit list. Several reputable brands like Puma and Mizuno I’m also interested by, just have never worn their shoes. Recommendations appreciated 👟
