@DsMatie A perfect example is Klaviyo, which launched on WhatsApp after 3 years of Meta opening its APIs. While they focused on email, open rates for email have been the lowest in years; Although they have distribution, they still have to carry the email bloat with them!

Why are new Shopify apps growing faster than old ones: 1. New mandatory updates by Shopify are faster to implement when your app isn't complex (usually new apps) 2. New apps are created on a solid, brand-new foundation, while older apps are constantly rewriting what already exists 3. New apps benefit from new opportunities while older apps can't easily switch (users to serve, old code, etc.) 4. New nice-to-have updates to increase your ranking (such as BFS badges) are easier to get for new apps When people ask me: "Can I still build a Shopify App in this market?" In reality, that's probably the best moment to do it

Interesting insights for Shopify App Founders This paper from Fabrizio (@judgeme @celispj ) is really interesting Seems like you guys didn't share it there, so I'm doing it Real data from: 1. ~24,000 Shopify apps 2. ~2.7 million stores 3. Thousands of installs and uninstalls Even though there are 24,000 apps: 1. Most apps never get installed 2. Only ~4,000 apps have real usage 3. Most merchants use 3 apps or fewer More than half of Shopify app categories are very competitive. No single app dominates. Even in big categories like: Discounts Upsells Email Bundles So launching in a “crowded” category is not stupid. The study shows something surprising: In almost 9 categories out of 10, older apps are losing users and newer apps are gaining users. That follows what I was saying: new apps are getting pushed by Shopify (Let me know if you want the full document from Fabrizio)

doubt they're funding it, but it is a trick as old as - well, the app store itself. it's a small team governing the app store, so violations get attention when they're significant. fwiw, there are plenty of app partners still violating the "cannot promote your app on storefront" rule.

Recently I activated @posthog on my app & within a week I saw a projected bill of $800. I was stumped to find that posthog had turned on autocapture by default and they are also charging 3x for the same event (base, profile & group) What a scam! @james406 I feel betrayed!
