20 years ago today I walked into the Post Bulletin for my first day in the ⁦@Sports_PB⁩ department. Probably fitting that I’m celebrating 20 years by covering a hockey tournament. The PB has changed a lot since 2004. I’m grateful to still be telling local athletes stories.

@marlenewinell I learned, while leaving Mormonism and reconstructing life, to put the relationships with my children over religion…and it changed all of our lives for the better. While in the Mormon church, I put the religion first and it was ruining our relationships.

When a parent rejects a child who doesn’t share their beliefs it’s crushing. The implication is that you aren't worthy of love. But if disagreement = rejection, is it really love? You are worthy and valuable no matter what. Get support: journeyfree.org.

It's not the garment-sleeve thing that gets under my skin. It’s realizing the amount of arbitrary rules seemingly made up on the spot. One minute, they're a huge deal. The next, they're like, whatever. All the time and effort we poured into stuff that doesn't really matter…
