Not merely “I support my people”, but the belief that one’s ethnic group is inherently superior, historically destined to lead, and more important than others. So Chichi, tribalism did NOT lead to the downfall of this country. It is ethnic chauvinism, constant finger-pointing, and the refusal of accountability wherever it appears that has done far more damage.

Arrival of the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) and other major refinery completion components for the Azikel Refinery at the Onne Seaport in Rivers State has marked a significant milestone in the realization of one of Nigeria’s largest privately-owned refinery projects located at Obunagha-Gbarain in Yenagooa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. The Crude Distillation Unit, regarded as the heart of every refinery, serves as the central processing facility through which petroleum products are distilled and refined. The massive components, measuring about 250 feet in length and weighing approximately 135 tonnes, arrived aboard a specially chartered vessel alongside other critical equipment, including Naphtha Reactors, gasoline distillation towers, crude heaters and other final installation components. The development is seen as a major boost for Bayelsa State, which has for decades contributed significantly to Nigeria’s economy through crude oil production but has continued to experience limited industrial infrastructure. The Azikel Refinery project is expected to stimulate economic growth, create employment opportunities and strengthen Nigeria’s local refining capacity. The project has also been described as a landmark indigenous industrial investment capable of transforming the economic landscape of the Niger Delta. Commendations have continued to trail the resilience and commitment of Dr. Azibapu Eruani and the management of Azikel Group for driving the refinery project to its present stage, with many describing the refinery as a lasting legacy of indigenous enterprise and industrial development in the region. As movement of the refinery components from the seaport to the Bayelsa project site begins in the coming weeks, expectations remain high among residents over the socio-economic benefits the refinery is expected to deliver upon completion.

Late President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Saleh Mamman as Minister of power from a nobody, a common PHCN staff. This man thought the best thing to do is become fantastically corrupt by siphoning 33.8bn ! Money meant to better our power sector. He has been sentenced to 75years imprisonment finally.

EGBEDA/ONA-ARA: AKIN ALABI COASTS TO VICTORY AS HON. AKINJIDE STEPS DOWN, DECLARES SUPPORT. The All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the House of Representatives seat in the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency ended in a victory for Hon. Akin Alabi, Chairman of the House Committee on Works, following a peaceful and credible exercise. Hon. Akin Alabi emerged victorious after his main challenger, Hon. Kazeem Akinjide, stepped down from the race and publicly declared support for the incumbent lawmaker ahead of the 2027 general elections. The outcome of the primary was widely applauded by party members and stakeholders, who described the exercise as peaceful, free, fair, and transparent. Delegates were commended for their orderly conduct throughout the direct primary process. The election was monitored by party officials, representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force, to ensure compliance with electoral guidelines and maintain order. No incidents of violence, disruption, or casualties were recorded during the exercise, as security personnel and party officials ensured effective coordination and transparency throughout the process. Supporters of Hon. Akin Alabi celebrated the victory, describing it as a testament to his leadership qualities, effective representation, infrastructural interventions, and empowerment initiatives across Egbeda and Ona Ara Local Government Areas. leaders.ng/2026/05/16/egb…

Overnight, Nigeria and the United States recorded a significant example of effective collaboration in the fight against terrorism. Our determined Nigerian Armed Forces, working closely with the Armed Forces of the United States, conducted a daring joint operation that dealt a heavy blow to the ranks of the Islamic State. Early assessments confirm the elimination of the wanted IS senior leader, Abu-Bilal Al-Manuki, also known as Abu-Mainok, along with several of his lieutenants, during a strike on his compound in the Lake Chad Basin Nigeria appreciates this partnership with the United States in advancing our shared security objectives. I extend my sincere gratitude to President Trump for his leadership and unwavering support in this effort. I commend the personnel involved on both sides for their professionalism and courage, and I look forward to more decisive strikes against all terrorist enclaves across the nation. Before boarding Air Force One to leave Beijing, the entire U.S. delegation dumped every item given to them by Chinese hosts — gifts, badges, pins, commemorative items — into a trash bin on site. Nothing of Chinese origin got on the plane. The delegation had already left personal devices at home and used clean burner phones throughout the trip.

Honestly Peter Obi is just saying what any reasonable person already knows. 180 days. 36 states. Do the math. 🇳🇾 That's roughly 5 days per state to sit with real Nigerians. Not ministers. Not party chairmen. Not billionaire donors. Real people. Real problems. Real conversations. 👂 Any leader who genuinely wants to govern this country could do this without breaking a sweat. But the people attacking this idea? Look at who they are. 👀 These are the same Tinubu supporters defending a president who knows the streets of Paris better than the streets of Maiduguri. The same people who think governance is something that happens in Abuja boardrooms and overseas hospitals. 😏 Peter Obi does not talk about this during the campaigns. He actually lives it daily; He has walked markets, sat in broken classrooms, visited hospitals and donated millions without 400 cars in his convoy. This is not just a personality trait. This is the difference between someone who sees power as responsibility versus someone who sees it as reward. 🇳🇬 180 days is more than enough. The problem was never time. It was never caring enough to show up.(Jos will always remain a case in point)😔 #PeterObi #Nigeria #Tinubu #Leadership #NigeriaDecides #NigeriawillbeOK

I just bought Bokku bread for ₦1,300 in front of UI. I know it’s ₦1,100 at their mart, but the lady selling it deserves the extra ₦200. I love Bokku bread, but there’s no way I’m going there tonight to stand in that long queue. She solved that stress for me, and I’m happy to pay extra for the convenience. Plus she’s a young lady trying to make honest money. I’d rather give that ₦200 to someone providing value than to able-bodied people begging instead of working.

A buka served me five huge pieces of ogunfe meat for just ₦2,000. I immediately knew something was not right. Because how are you giving somebody this much meat for that price in this economy? I had actually gone there to eat amala. The woman dropped the first plate containing my dear amala and abula. Then she dropped another plate containing five different pieces of meat. Huge ones o. In my head, I was already thinking: “Is it because I'm a first-time customer?” After eating the first two meats, something told me to ask questions before I would embarrass myself and have to pay an amount I wasn't planning. So I called the woman and asked if all the meats were for me. She burst out laughing. “Ah no o. Na selection. Choose the one you want.” Omo.. e remain small make dis people put me inside trouble sha 😄 Try dey ask questions o.

I have a lot of questions on my mind around the President’s new appointment of SA Homeland Security. Tinubu is a master strategist. So nothing comes out of his pocket that doesn’t have a direction. Why is it a matter of debate? Many of the responsibilities being discussed already sit within the mandate of the Ministry of Interior and the DSS. So this looks like creating an overlap—and we don’t want to risk institutional confusion rather than the improved security we are looking for. So take for example, border management, immigration oversight, civil protection, correctional services, and internal administrative security are already core responsibilities of the Ministry of Interior. While domestic intelligence and internal threat monitoring are statutory responsibilities of the DSS. We surely do not need any new rivalries. Nigeria’s problem has rarely been the absence of security institutions. The bigger challenge has often been coordination, mandate overlap, and implementation gaps. Homeland security sounds attractive conceptually, but in practice many of its proposed functions—border security, internal coordination, immigration management, public safety, and domestic threat response—are already embedded within existing Nigerian institutions. If all of these are already existing what’s the new SA Homeland Security going to be doing? He is going to be implementing the President’s security blueprint on state police. State police is Mr President’s blueprint to address internal insecurity challenges. This is the gist I have heard from some quarters. Some months ago, the President sacked the IGP, one because he wasn’t taking state policing serious; that same week his office issued a statement on state policing and said there was no going back, calling on the NASS to work with him on this. This advisory office is going to work with already established institutions to advise the President on delivering on this task. He will work with the existing security architecture to deliver the President’s vision. From the NASS, to the Police, to ONSA, to DSS, to Ministry of Interior. The most important thing here is that he cannot control or direct them to do anything, his role is advisory—this is the man that would do the paperwork for the President on this matter. But, regardless, let’s keep an eye.
