"Republicans point to 2016 and say 'We didn't become a fascist state then!'... Yes, but Trump would have liked to." Eyebrows are raised as Kamala Harris moves away from calling Donald Trump a clown to a fascist. But, isn't he? @maitlis | @jonsopel | @lewis_goodall

@TheDon66666 Yeah - what are supposed to do when we can't comment on Twitter? Well maybe we could vote. If only there was an election. So yeah - absolute dictatorship.

@kylegriffin1 @MSNBC He is paying people with lottery tickets to support a petition. If not illegal, it should be. It renders the petition completely meaningless.

UCLA law professor Rick Hasen tells @MSNBC "there's a very strong possibility" Elon Musk's offer of cash payments to voters who sign Trump petitions is "illegal." He cites 52 USC-10307c. "There's no problem with having a lottery, at least from the point of view of election law, to pay people to sign a petition," says Hasen. "The problem is to sign the petition, you have to be, if you go to their website of his PAC, you have to be a registered voter in a swing state. So, this is essentially a lottery to either induce people to register to vote."

@FCTwenteBenson Yeah he really hasn't made a go of that career of his at all. Must wish he never left NI. Would have spared him falling in with Cat if nothing else. Tragic.

@caulmick For crying out loud grow up. Why should SF be treated differently to other parties? They should all be the butt of jokes. Richly deserved.

National Catholic Reporter on the Al Smith Dinner: "The real outrage is that Trump, given the public nature and extent of his repulsive record, should be invited to a fundraiser for an organization, Catholic Charities, that has long worked in the trenches to save and transform lives on society's farthest margins. It is tragic that the guest of honor this year will be someone whose personal example and policy wishes are in a collision course with the principles of Catholic social teaching." ncronline.org/opinion/editor…
