The drivable par-4 12th hole at TPC Sawgrass has been modified again for this week's Players. As Scot Sherman (Love Golf Design) told me on the latest episode of Designing Golf, the lake on the left has been extended back toward the tee, allowing for more visibility of the location of the water. Also — and more interestingly — a bunker has been added on the right side of the fairway (see first image from 2025 vs. last image from 2026). This will likely complicate what has become the standard play when the tee is up: rip driver or 3-wood just right of the green and take what you get (see scatter plot from the third round last year). This year, no one will want to be stuck with that 40- to 50-yard bunker shot to a green that runs away toward water. We'll see how it works out. I'm not convinced the hole is salvageable.

#Patriots WR coach Todd Downing deserves a lot of credit. Since 2000, he’s coached 9+ programs, from @FootballEPHS asst. freshman coach to intern roles with the Vikings (PR, Research, etc) to various coaching trips around the NFL. Could easily see him landing HC interviews soon.
