Astronomers using early data from the @VRubinObs ’s LSST Camera have identified a record-breaking asteroid in pre-survey observations conducted before full survey operations begin. This discovery reports the fastest-rotating asteroid larger than 500 meters ever observed, designated 2025 MN45, with a diameter of approximately 710 meters and a rotation period of about 1.88 minutes. The result emerges from analyzing preliminary data collected over roughly ten hours of observations across several nights during the Rubin Observatory’s commissioning phase. These observations are part of the legacy phase leading up to the full Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST), a decade-long program designed to systematically image the Southern Hemisphere’s sky with unprecedented depth and cadence. During the First Look phase in June 2025, Rubin detected thousands of asteroids, nearly 1,900 of which are newly discovered objects, including populations of main-belt asteroids and other rapidly rotating bodies. When you need to do a controlled exposure unwind, you don’t sell everything all at once. And definitely don’t tell the world what you are doing until it is over. Here’s the way you do it. You figure out what the most toxic and horrible position that the failed institution held. That is what you need to get rid of, or else someone else will ultimately end up holding the bag. For this example, silver will be that toxic position. I have one rule that I need to strictly follow during this unwind. My net exposure needs to remain relatively constant to reduce the risk to myself. What that means is if I am getting rid of the silver position, I need to adjust the exposure to the rest of the portfolio in order to balance it out. This means that if both Silver and Bitcoin IOUs were held, then I need to buy silver and sell everything else to maintain my risk levels. This creates major selling on certain assets like crypto and some small cap stocks, and heavy buying on others like Japanese bonds… because of course the institution being unwound was heavy in the yen carry trade, but everyone else is too so we need to keep the JPYUSD in tact. Once Silver is unwound, I can either move on to another asset to unwind, or squirrel it away into basket/derivative products like I normally do. ——- I know this theory is contra to almost all of the other ones you see floating around, but I think it is all connected. GME and small caps getting crushed, the JP10Y blowing out, crypto getting pummeled, and gold/silver rising rapidly. It all just kind of fits in that scenario where nothing else I have read quite does.
