A hard, cold wisdom is required for goodness to accomplish good. Goodness without wisdom always accomplishes evil.

So bizarre to come onto right wing X and see the constant dooming, the fear mongering, incessant blackpilling about inevitable Democrat victory and then I go on Bluesky and it's just Democrats so despondent that they're either saying don't vote or threatening violence.

@AOC You're literally admitting that government is causing the problems for the middle class. They are the ones choosing to sell out to lobbyists & pass laws that hurt the average person.

Someone can certainly *make* a billion dollars. That’s not the same thing as earning. Growing fast and disrupting markets also often means chasing and wielding market power, political influence, and scale. Take Airbnb. They heavily lobby politicians against passing housing laws to protect working class residents because it’s bad for their business model. Airbnb could not exist at its current scale and size without the housing market destabilizations, displacements, and exploits that are supercharging the evictions of working people everywhere from Puerto Rico to Jackson Hole. Now young people are planning for a future where they will never be able to afford to own a home while others have 20 and live off renting it out to them at extortionate rates with zero protections. Yes, a tiny amount of people can make billions of dollars doing that. And millions of everyday Americans are bearing the cost.
Paul Graham@paulg

Sure you can earn a billion dollars. I've been teaching people how to do it for 20 years. The way you do it is to start a company that grows fast. You don't have to do anything bad to make a company grow fast. You just have to make something people want. paulgraham.com/ace.html

@LooneyOldLady @BorisBartlog @SamaHoole Exactly!!! Drives me nuts when people think the desert is just nothing. The Sonoran desert is incredibly biodiverse. When it's disrupted it takes decades to recover and we end up with invasive species like stink net that's taking over AZ & creating an insane fire hazard.

The desert has an ecosystem all its own - & solar farms are destroying it. They are putting them up all over CA's Mojave Desert, bulldozing Ironwood & Joshua trees, & destroying biotic soil crusts (cyanobacteria and lichens) that stabilize the soil. This leads to more dust storms that hinder photosynthesis & harm animal health. The dust can also contain the pathogen responsible for Valley fever in humans. Studies also note declines in biodiversity & disruptions of pollinator networks.

Activist: "You can graze sheep underneath solar panels. It's called agrivoltaics." Farmer: "I've read the brochures." Activist: "Best of both worlds." Farmer: "The panels shade the sward. Productive species die back. What grows is what tolerates shade and compaction. Sheep won't finish on it." Activist: "But the trials show it works." Farmer: "The trials run three years and measure ewe presence. Not lamb growth rates. Not finishing weights. Not what the soil looks like in year fifteen." Activist: "It's still better than nothing." Farmer: "It's a 30% stocking rate, a steel frame I can't plough around, panel-cleaning chemicals running into the watercourse, and a 40-year lease I can't break." Activist: "But you're getting energy AND lamb." Farmer: "I'm getting a third of the lamb, a maintenance contract, and a field my grandson can't farm." Activist: "You're being negative." Farmer: "I'm watching a thousand-year-old way of feeding people get traded for twenty-five years of subsidised electricity. Negative would be the polite word."

I find this discourse perplexing because the solution seems straigthforward: make university marks almost entirely dependent on lengthy in-person exams that combine handwritten essays with oral questioning. Why is this even a conversation? Are there implementation barriers or something?
Luiza Jarovsky, PhD@LuizaJarovsky

🚨 University professors have been saying AI is completely destroying learning and that we'll soon have an AI-powered, semi-illiterate workforce. Here's a glimpse into the educational apocalypse: "Sarah, a freshman at Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario, said she first used ChatGPT to cheat during the spring semester of her final year of high school. (...) After getting acquainted with the chatbot, Sarah used it for all her classes: Indigenous studies, law, English, and a “hippie farming class” called Green Industries. “My grades were amazing,” she said. “It changed my life.” Sarah continued to use AI when she started college this past fall. Why wouldn’t she? Rarely did she sit in class and not see other students’ laptops open to ChatGPT. Toward the end of the semester, she began to think she might be dependent on the website. She already considered herself addicted to TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and Reddit, where she writes under the username maybeimnotsmart. “I spend so much time on TikTok,” she said. “Hours and hours, until my eyes start hurting, which makes it hard to plan and do my schoolwork. With ChatGPT, I can write an essay in two hours that normally takes 12.” - "By November, Williams estimated that at least half of his students were using AI to write their papers. Attempts at accountability were pointless. Williams had no faith in AI detectors, and the professor teaching the class instructed him not to fail individual papers, even the clearly AI-smoothed ones. “Every time I brought it up with the professor, I got the sense he was underestimating the power of ChatGPT, and the departmental stance was, ‘Well, it’s a slippery slope, and we can’t really prove they’re using AI,’” Williams said. “I was told to grade based on what the essay would’ve gotten if it were a ‘true attempt at a paper.’ So I was grading people on their ability to use ChatGPT.” - AI in education is a serious topic, and many schools and universities are blindly jumping into the "AI-first" wave without considering short and long-term consequences. It would be great to hear more from teachers and educators to understand potential solutions. This might be a great opportunity for rethinking the education system and how students are assessed. - 👉 Link to the full article below. 👉 To learn more about AI's legal and ethical challenges, join my newsletter's 94,700+ subscribers (link below).

There are no mathematicians or physicists to explain why we are talking about “Inter-dimensional beings.” We have pastors. We have elected representatives. We have special forces operators. We have streamers. Etc. It seems ONLY the two groups who COULD explain this are absent!

🚨🚨🚨Rep. Anna Paulina Luna on UFO’s and aliens: “I wouldn’t call them aliens, you will find out soon” “I don’t call them aliens.I use the term inter-dimensional beings. I don’t know what these things are that they’re using.” “I have seen evidence in a SCIF that leads me to believe there are things we cannot explain. We Were in The Private UFO Meeting for Pastors. No Cellphones allowed…   Just two days after a private pastors’ disclosure meeting on UFOs & non-human intelligence… We were flying from Tennessee to Colorado Springs when six unidentified objects appeared directly in front of the plane. They kept pacing us in the sky. Unexplained. This happened February 20th, 2026 — the same week the President ordered agencies to reveal the truth about aliens & UFOs. Pastors: start preparing your people now. The church cannot be caught off guard. #UFOs #UAP #Disclosure

First of all, congratulations! When you first have a baby it changes your entire life and there’s something about it that feels permanent. I have a baby now- that’s my life. But it’s not. It’s this incredibly short moment that you’ll never have back. It goes so quickly, you won’t believe it, and you’ll spend the rest of your life thinking about that time. So, be aware that it’s fleeting. Spend every possible second loving the shit out of them, because at least when you look back at it, you’ll know you did that.
