I recently had the privilege of sitting down with SAGE Magazine for its winter edition to discuss my journey, the fight for equity and justice, and the work being done through the Black Class Action Secretariat. This piece dives into the systemic challenges we’re addressing and the vision for a fairer and more inclusive Canada.

On Human Rights Day, we proudly delivered thousands of signatures to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, urging the government to fulfill its commitment to recognize Black workers in the Employment Equity Act.

Earlier this week, the historic Black Class Action lawsuit representing Black workers in 99 federal departments and agencies began in Federal Court. It is the honor of a lifetime to lead this movement for justice and equality. #blackclassaction 📷 Greg Bennett

Had some thought-provoking discussions with @FelipeCalderon, 63rd president of Mexico on climate change at the World Diversity in Leadership. I spoke about @BlackClassActn’ significant strides in combating systemic discrimination within Canada’s federal public service, emphasizing our alignment with ESG principles and I.D.E.A. values.

With the resignation of Russell Brown from the Supreme Court of Canada @SCC_eng, we call on the Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau to recommend a Black judge to address the lack of Black representation on the bench. Our judiciary must be representative of our communities.

We call on the Gov’t to release the long awaited Employment Equity Act report. Workers con’t to experience significant exclusion due to the flawed legislation. Following which the Gov’t must urgently act to amend the law. @SeamusORegan @JustinTrudeau @AdelleBlackett @CAPE_ACEP
