An example of how simplifying a system can end corruption: Why does a cop need to physically visit your house for passport verification? Your criminal record, if any, isn’t stored at home. During these visits, cops almost always ask for money. You don’t want to pay, but you fear they might put a negative remark and block your process, so many end up giving in. Some argue that a visit is needed to confirm your address. That’s just an excuse. Everywhere else, banks, schools, government offices, your address is accepted through Aadhaar, ration card, electricity bill, or other official documents. So why not end discretion and simplify the system? Let applicants upload all relevant documents online, and let the police verify them digitally. The process should be time-bound, for example, if a verification isn’t completed in 7 days, the file automatically escalates to a higher authority, and the police must explain the delay. Every step should be recorded, traceable, and transparent, with online tracking for applicants. Make it cashless and fully digital. This small change would remove discretion, prevent bribes, and make the system faster, fairer, and corruption-free. But, will they do it?

In Europe: output matters → finish work on time, enjoy life. In India: people think hours matter → staying late = “hardworking” and “loyal.” Result? West treats leaving at 5 as discipline, India treats it as laziness. This is the cultural gap: “work to live” vs “live to work.” 🔥

Imagine someone in the private earning ₹2 lakhs a month. Sounds like a good salary, right? That’s ₹24 lpa. He pays around ₹4 lakhs in ITR, plus indirect taxes on everything he buys. Add EMIs, rent, bills, and daily expenses, how much can he realistically save? Maybe ₹3–6 lakhs a year. To save ₹2 crores, he’d need to work for 20–30 years. Now consider this: ₹2 crores, that’s the bribe an IRS officer demanded from a business to settle just one case. One case. What could be a person’s lifetime savings is another man’s bribe from just one case! Imagine what he’ll accumulate over a lifetime if not caught. Multiply that by lakhs of govt employees, bureaucrats, politicians, judges. Not saying all are corrupt, but even if 20% are, the scale of money hoarded is unimaginable. And yet, somehow, India continues to move forward. How we’re progressing despite this deeply institutionalised corruption is nothing short of a miracle.

MeitY's 2023 Indian Web Browser Challenge aimed to develop a secure indigenous browser. As per the quoted post, a developer rebranded the US browser 'Brave' as 'Ping', won the challenge, and got ₹75 lakh funding from Ashwini Vaishnav. If true, are there no checks and balances? Did the judges not have even basic tech knowledge to verify originality? These things are even more rampant in hardware. Most of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat products are just Chinese goods rebranded and repackaged as Indian.
