Jacksonville Officers Fatally Shoot Armed Burglary Suspect After Multiple Home Invasions
Jacksonville, Florida — On May 4, 2026, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officers responded late at night to reports of multiple armed burglaries at townhomes on Rigel Road involving 33-year-old Brandon Laron Kaphers. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Kaphers allegedly kicked in the front door of one residence while armed, prompting the homeowner to call 911. Minutes later, authorities said he forced entry into a second townhome, went upstairs, and pointed a handgun at a woman inside a bedroom. The resident then called 911.
Investigators said Kaphers then kicked in the front doors of two additional townhomes on the same street before officers arrived. Responding officers gathered near their patrol vehicles while attempting to locate the suspect. According to the sheriff’s office, Kaphers emerged from between parked vehicles and walked toward officers while pointing a handgun at them twice. Officers ordered him to drop the weapon, but officials said he did not comply.
Officers Gilberto Comayagua Jr., Roberto Vazquez, Joshua Paillant, and Anthony Schmidt fired their weapons, striking Kaphers. Authorities said Kaphers fell to the ground and dropped the handgun. Officers then took him into custody and provided emergency medical aid before he was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to law enforcement records released by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Kaphers had prior criminal history that included aggravated assault with a weapon, false imprisonment of a minor, and additional charges. Authorities did not release further details regarding the dates or dispositions of those cases.
No officers or residents were reported injured during the incident. Officials confirmed Kaphers was armed with a handgun at the time of the shooting.

this still one of the most unsettling mysteries ever

@Jarmane_8 And if they don’t win a Super Bowl with him, HE is leaving and so will a lot of the fanbase. We follow him to whatever team HE goes to.

I took a step back and thought about this. HE is the reason why we get so many primetime games, HE is the reason this team is relevant, HE is the reason we have hope every season, HE is the reason we have a new stadium.

Uber driver had to call police to have this woman removed as she throws around allegations of the driver having white privilege.
This confrontation from Orlando, Florida, is a masterclass in main-character syndrome and escalating a simple situation into arrested and charged in the blink of an eye.
After being asked to leave the vehicle because the driver felt uncomfortable with her behavior, Deidre Thomas decided that the Uber was her personal property. She didn't just stay; she staged a sit-in.
Throughout the footage, she demands a refund as a condition for exiting. In reality, Uber’s TOS is clear: a driver can end a ride at any time for safety, and disputes are handled through the app—not by holding a vehicle hostage.
Even when the Orlando PD arrived, the entitlement didn't budge. She spent the entire interaction lecturing the officers on the law, accusing the driver of "endangering her life," and recording the whole thing as if she were the victim.
In one of the most ironic moments, she attempts to weaponize social justice rhetoric against the driver claiming white privilege just prior to being removed from a car that doesn't belong to her.
Despite her claims that she "paid for the ride" and "wasn't going anywhere," the law disagrees. Once a driver terminates the ride and asks you to leave, staying in the vehicle is Trespassing in a Conveyance.
She was eventually forcibly removed, arrested, and charged with trespassing and resisting an officer. While she later avoided a permanent conviction through a pre-trial diversion program, this bodycam footage gives a clear view of things these poor Uber drivers must endure as well as what not to do in this type of situation.

@Breaking57 Just do what they ask. Take it up with the court later. It’s not that hard. As soon as their mouths open to speak, whatever cognitive brain activity that exists stops working.

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooter was armed with a shotgun, handgun, and multiple knives, according to DC police chief Jeffrey Carroll.
The shooter was identified as 31-year-old teacher Cole Allen from Torrance, California.
The suspect emerged from a "makeshift room" near the entrance, where "there was no security" near where bar carts were stored, according to the New York Post.
"He was in that room... he grabbed it out of a bag or something." The weapon "was long" and "didn’t look like a typical gun," a witness who was a volunteer at the event told the Post.
It is reportedly believed that Allen was a guest at the Hilton hotel where the dinner took place.

@BruceExclusive @TheBillsGuys Beane and pegula seem completely tone deaf to the needs this team has. When they told us their thoughts in that press conference, they really meant it. The roster sucks but they think it’s great.
Maybe McD was holding the team together.
