Two months ago I was fired by Google for creating the Google Workspace CLI. It went viral, hit #1 on Hacker News, gained thousands of GitHub stars and many thousands of actual users in just a couple days.
It was an incredible, confusing journey, from directors and leaders asking what they could learn from the tool to getting grilled by legal about why the Google logo and brand colors are on the Google Workspace GitHub code repositories.
I think the cause was that Workspace and certain leaders (and projects) were afraid of being disrupted. But the fear wasn't specific to my CLI, it was a broader fear in what agents meant for Workspace. Either way, the irony of my termination was the announcement at Google Cloud Next two days before I was fired that an official Workspace CLI was coming.
I want this out there because it is easier for me to explain my story and it is an experience I want to fully own. It's also part of my healing.
Nearly 7 years at Google was an incredible opportunity for me and I was fortunate to have wonderful teammates and a manager that fully supported me through these last few months. Thank you.

@japan_nobunaga Yes, I do. After being mildly skeptical of gun ownership, I became a gun owner after watching my wife get attacked right in front of me while walking around a neighborhood in Seattle. It was a mild attack, but it could’ve been much worse.

I’m getting tired of “experts” like this misunderstanding what they’re looking at. LLMs are giant databases of stuff HUMAN BEINGS have done. They are the EXHAUST of humanity. Prompts are database queries into EXISTING DATA. It’s a fuzzy search engine, not intelligence.

This was my favorite moment from Elon, Franz, and Lars yesterday.
Elon: "I’ll tell you something, maybe at a fundamental level why the Model S/X succeeded, which is that, those cars were designed with love."
Lars: "Absolutely."
Elon: "That would be my advice for people out there who are making products or providing services, is do something that you truly love. Your customers will feel that love."

Am at Colorado Springs! The supercharger location pretty much surprised me once I got there.
It was kinda flooded (not exaggerating lol) so I was curious which stall FSD was gonna take but luckily it was unfazed and parked like clockwork. The pic doesn't do much justice.

LiDAR clearly isn’t working.

@EspressoJose @KatieMiller Does not. Cameras are superior for this problem. Light rain, it’s irrelevant. Heavy rain blinds the sensors. Not only does adding lasers not fix that, but it also creates many new problems that are proving intractable.

@michaelahlers @KatieMiller The lidar sees thru the rain. Teslas only use cameras, and in Florida rain they do not "see" very well. Adding lidar would fix that.
