In 2023 I decided to take on software development, it was a stark change from my career as an accountant and then eventually in sales, but it was very rewarding and I'm more than happy I did it. I started out by getting a teacher from Preply, and then by building my own projects. That was a great move in hindsight and its paying dividends now.

I've been speaking to some lovely accountants who are in love with the mission at Open Accountants and they've requested to verify skills related to GAAP and IFRS, which is something I am on board for. So from next week we'll not only have tax skills on the site but also GAAP and IFRS related skills verified by experts in the field. Thank you to the accountants that are so mission driven to make this happen. If your an accountant and would like to contribute hit me up, the opportunity for you (besides ensuring that LLMs get the info it spits out right) is that you get free AI based SEO. We're seeing instances where an LLM refers the accountant who verified the skills in question for follow ups and further advice. I hope we can all collectively take the industry into the age of AI safely, it requires a group effort.

@fardeentwt yes fair, its false though. I would know as I'm from Malta and everyone tends to know everything. He had a partner in Valar ventures who has a foothold in Malta but Peter never officially got the passport. Plus now its gna be hard cause the Eu is stopping it for Malta.

> be Peter Thiel > spend 20 years funding politicians who said America first > help put Trump in the white house twice > his company Palantir makes $687 million in government contracts in a single quarter > sign a $20 billion army deal through Anduril > California proposes a 5% tax on billionaires > quietly packed bags and said he is leaving because of the direction of the US, and the risk of nuclear war > already have new zealand citizenship since 2011 > already have a Maltese passport for EU access > now moving to Argentina to hang out with Milei > buying land in Uruguay, possibly building a bunker > previously tried to build a sovereign city in the ocean with its own laws > previously tried to build a sovereign city in Honduras, sued for $10 billion when they shut it down > America was always just the most convenient option

This is getting ridiculous This company should’ve IPO’d long ago If they are serious about public buy-in for AI, they should have done their best to make sure that retail was invested instead of just providing exit liquidity for VCs

We've raised $65 billion in Series H funding at a $965 billion post-money valuation, led by @AltimeterCap, Dragoneer, @Greenoaks, and @sequoia. This investment will help us advance our research and expand our capacity to meet growing demand for Claude.

yep. pretty impressive, can imagine a world where most CPAs are building lightweight ledgers on cowork for their clients.. benefits are that the data remains local stored in the browser (thats also its current limitation since it maxes out at like 10mb which means a couple of thousand of line items not more)

There’s this thing called “plain text accounting” where you basically keep a ledger of your accounts in text files Tedious for a human, perfect for an agent I can’t help but think this is an absolute home run for tracking - specifically with something like a hermes agent (assuming proper security) I could imagine an agent that keeps a ledger of all my accounts, matches them to receipts in my inbox, then does my taxes and financial reporting I think we have the tools

Arrgh! I’m so angry right now. I have client that I need to just fire. My question for you, #TaxTwitter: when I fire them, do I tell them the reason all of their employees just stop showing up to work is because their emails reek of hostility, condescension and entitlement?

@DarioAmodei just built my own GL for testing on Live Artifacts in Cowork. Not too bad, but way far off from what it should be. Claude should have inbuilt double entry features without needing to build one own GL ledger from scratch... the opportunity is massive.

I am increasingly skeptical of all these measures of wellbeing. They all seem to cater to purely individualistic and materialistic categories. The older I get the more I value interpersonal, social, and communal aspects of wellbeing, especially once your *basic* material and safety needs are satisfied. I am sure many of the examples below are rich in some of those dimensions as well, but I know for a fact that some of the top ones are woefully inadequate there.
