@JoshuaTCharles Even when prayed poorly my day turns out differently than when omitted. There is a calmness that comes over you unnoticeably. Something strange is that whenever I pray it sitting I start to yawn very deeply throughout, and the yawns stop when I’m done.

Catholics are not obligated to pray the Rosary. But there are few tools at our disposal—for personal repentance, for the conversion of others, etc.—that are more powerful than the Holy Rosary. During this Lent, I highly encourage you to develop the habit of praying it daily.

Tomorrow is the feast of St. Michael. Long known as Michaelmas, it was one of the most important feasts of the medieval Church. St. Michael is the great protector of the Church, and the victor over Satan. We invoke his protection in this time of prevalent diabolical infestation.

@JoshuaTCharles @jordanbpeterson Another is Joshua 3:3, describing that the Israelites must break camp and follow the Ark when they see it before crossing the Jordan, “that you may know which way to take, for you have not gone over this road before”. Now, Mary is the new Ark, and everything clicks.

JORDAN PETERSON AND BIBLICAL TYPOLOGY I think Dr. @jordanbpeterson has many wonderful insights into Christianity and Scripture because his thinking, while not strictly speaking “orthodox,” is nonetheless similar to the ancient apostolic/patristic method of reading Scripture called “typology.” Typology sees every element in Scripture pointing to a fulfillment in something else—especially everything in the Old Testament as a “type” that is “fulfilled” by the New Testament. This non-literal way of reading Scripture actually comes from Christ and the Apostles themselves. For example, Christ said a wicked generation seeks a sign, but the only one that would be given to it (1st century generation) would be the “sign of Jonah” (Matt. 12:39-41, 16:4; Luke 11:29-32). He then interprets the “sign of Jonah” typologically, saying Jonah’s three days in the whale will be fulfilled by the Messiah’s three days in the tomb. Similarly, the repentance of the Ninevites by the preaching of Jonah prefigures the repentance of the Gentiles (“nations”) by the promulgation of the Gospel. Does the book of Jonah contain a single word about the Messiah, His death and resurrection, and the coming repentance of the Gentiles? No, it doesn’t. If you read Jonah literally, you would never arrive at Jesus. Jesus Himself had to come and reveal that it pointed to Him. Once you know that, suddenly it makes sense. Similarly, both Peter and Paul interpret the Old Testament typologically many times. For example, St. Paul in Galatians 4 interprets Hagar and Sarah—Abraham’s two wives—as types of the earthly and the heavenly Jerusalem. Is there anything in the story of Genesis that reveals this literally? No. We had to receive Apostolic teaching to properly understand it. But once we do, it clicks. Similarly, in 1 Cor. 10, St. Paul said the rock that watered the Israelites in the desert was Christ, and compared the Israelites going through the Red Sea with baptism. Again, nothing in those accounts says anything literally about Christ or baptism. Likewise, St. Peter interprets Noah’s flood as a type of baptism (1 Pet. 3:21). Does the flood account literally refer to what St. Peter says about baptism? No, not a word. But St. Peter’s interpretation nonetheless makes sense of the narrative in a way that ultimately points to the redemption of Christ. These are just a few examples of typology in Scripture received directly from the mouth of Christ and the Apostles. It’s not an exaggeration to say: no typology, no Gospel. The Church Fathers constantly read Scripture the same way. A small sample: St. Augustine constantly interprets Christ’s parables in relation to the Church. The wheat and the tares in the field of the Lord are the good and evil within the Catholic Church, as are the sheep and goats, and the clean and unclean animals in Noah’s ark, which he likewise interprets as a type of the Church based on the words of St. Peter. He also interprets the gathering of the good and bad fish in one net and their sorting when the net is brought ashore (Matt. 13:47-50) as a type of the good and bad within the Church, and God’s separation and judgment of them at the end of the age. St. Cyril of Alexandria, who would later lead the Ecumenical Council of Ephesus on behalf of the Pope in AD 431, likewise interpreted the fact that there was only one tabernacle/Temple in the Torah/Old Testament in which to offer sacrifice as a type of the one Catholic Church in which the sacrifice of the Eucharist could be offered and received rightly. This is just the tip of the iceberg. While I don’t agree with everything Dr. Peterson says, I think he has hit a nerve with many because this ancient method of reading Scripture is quite literally how we got the Gospel, and draws us into a deep STORY. Human beings are obsessed with stories. Which is no wonder for the Christian. This clearly reflects Our Father in Heaven and His action in history, where narrative and reality are one.

Here is the moment Tammy Peterson officially entered the Catholic Church during the Easter vigil Mass last night. Her husband Jordan Peterson sat by her side for the two-hour vigil in Toronto's Holy Rosary Church. After, Jordan asked her if she felt like she had come home to which she replied, "Yes." I was lucky to be there to document the beautiful moment for @EWTNNewsInDepth. @jordanbpeterson @Tammy1Peterson

A genuine badge of honor. I like plants. A lot. Plants like CO2. A lot. Now there are way more plants. Particularly in semi-arid areas (!) And their foliage is much denser and healthier. Plus crop yields have improved about 15% worldwide for the same reason. In the last two decades alone. So a greener planet and more food. Precisely the opposite of what the anti-human greens "predicted." Your move, ecofreaks. That's you, @MichaelEMann and your ilk. @ClimateEnvoy @UN @wef

There is at least one industry research lab where the leadership believes that (super)human-level AI: - is attainable - is a scientific research question, not just a question of more compute and more data. - is not "just around the corner". It will take a while. - is not an existential risk. - requires contributions from the entire research community, because no one has a monopoly on good ideas. - hence requires open source platforms and open research, because no one has a monopoly on good ideas. - is going to change human condition for the better.
