I’ve had so much fun here—learned a ton, laughed a lot, and made great connections. Signing off for good. I’ll be on Bluesky.

Happy to tell that we’ve just migrated from Webpack to @rspack_dev and the results are mind-blowing! Our build time is now 15x faster (2m to 7s) and HMR is 4x faster (2s to 450ms). Building such a large project in under 10s has our dev team at @Getaround thrilled! 🤩

@nateberkopec That's not always possible. It's worth pointing out that if you have long-running jobs that cannot be divided, it's good to have a dedicated poll of resources for them.

Long-running background jobs (>60 seconds) are like potent denial-of-service attacks (DoS) that you cause yourself. One or two is fine, but enqueue a few dozen and suddenly 100% of your background job capacity is consumed by just one class! Break jobs into smaller parts.

How do you mistake-proof a process that can't be tested? For example, code breaks if a certain fixture-like row is not present in the database. OK, you can write a test... but the code still breaks on prod b/c the DB is not the same! Ideas?
