The curse of Chelsea number 9

The Premier League is currently in the Mikel Arteta era — The era of compact, physical, frustrating mid-blocks. A few seasons back, every club even the newly promoted sides were focused on perfect build ups and dominating possession like Pep. Now, the best-performing teams in the league are the ones built around compact, well-drilled mid-blocks. Arteta effectively gave inferior teams a tactical template on how to match up with and frustrate bigger sides. He’s the only coach to have successfully implemented this mid-block approach at a big club while still competing for titles with it in recent seasons. To some extent, Arteta is responsible for how high the Premier League’s floor has become this season, and how capped the ceiling looks, a blessing and a curse.

🚨 Most expensive signings in Chelsea FC history.

🗣️ Pat Nevin: "8-2 over this two-legged tie is not flattering and it's no fluke. Chelsea are this far off the standard of this kind of side. They beat them in the Club World Cup but I was never buying that. This is a lot more realistic as to where teams really are." ~ @bbc5live

You have a £300m budget to fix Chelsea this summer. How do you spend it?

🔵🚨𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆: 𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐒𝐄𝐀 𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐍 𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐎 𝐁𝐔𝐘 𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐃 𝐄𝐋 𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐀(19)! 🇩🇪🔥 He is 6’2 LW He Has That Workrate and Smell for goal A “Robben” type winger🤩 Chelsea Are Ready To Pay £42M😳

Wesley Fofana is always in the public spotlight for bad reasons , paid huge money for him , can barely play 2 straight matches , always injured , always doing something on camera or posting weird stuff on the internet. He should be first to move out of the club this summer. Overrated player

The stupid thing about this tie is Chelsea are going to end up with as many big chances and a better xG. They have conceded maybe 1 really quality goal and the other 6 have been gifts from a defensive standpoint. It's simply not good enough at elite level.
