@mitchellh Love it. Very exciting times. I think like other tech revolutions, it will accelerate the minority, but like everything else, will still separate people/companies by the amount of hard work they are willing to put in. No free lunches.

I strongly believe there are entire companies right now under heavy AI psychosis and its impossible to have rational conversations about it with them. I can't name any specific people because they include personal friends I deeply respect, but I worry about how this plays out. I lived through the great MTBF vs MTTR (mean-time-between-failure vs. mean-time-to-recovery) reckoning of infrastructure during the transition to cloud and cloud automation. All those arguments are rearing their ugly heads again but now its... the whole software development industry (maybe the whole world, really). It's frightening, because the psychosis folks operate under an almost absolute "MTTR is all you need" mentality: "its fine to ship bugs because the agents will fix them so quickly and at a scale humans can't do!" We learned in infrastructure that MTTR is great but you can't yeet resilient systems entirely. The main issue is I don't even know how to bring this up to people I know personally, because bringing this topic up leads to immediately dismissals like "no no, it has full test coverage" or "bug reports are going down" or something, which just don't paint the whole picture. We already learned this lesson once in infrastructure: you can automate yourself into a very resilient catastrophe machine. Systems can appear healthy by local metrics while globally becoming incomprehensible. Bug reports can go down while latent risk explodes. Test coverage can rise while semantic understanding falls. Changes happens so fast that nobody notices the underlying architecture decaying. I worry.

@mitchellh I’m on team “AI is properly hyped”. I think those dismissing the AI revolution are gonna have a difficult time. Maybe I misread your first post sorry 😅

@thsottiaux help me understand why I need /goal. I’ve never once had a problem with long running tasks without it. Plus I’m assuming it would produce a 5000 line PR which is not realistic in a team setting.

@bcherny minor annoying bug I keep hitting with cloud agents. will try to mitigate with prompts but would be amazing if integrations just "worked"

When OAI employees say, “I let codex run all night…” What framework they use? How do you set up the task so it has enough work for 8 hours?

@daniel_mac8 I agree with all of this. Love it. To mitigate the token problem, I added a `—lite` argument that switches to spark for pr merging and ci fixes and easy stuff.

Symphony is amazing. Best agent orchestrator I've used. It's open-source and you can use it with your ChatGPT sub. Only downside I found: it's *VERY* token hungry. Closed 30 Linear issues with Symphony + Codex in a week and it was the closest I came to my weekly Codex limit.
OpenAI Developers@OpenAIDevs

📣 What if every open issue had a Codex agent? That’s the idea behind Symphony, an open-source agent orchestrator for Codex that turns task trackers into always-on systems for agentic work, letting humans focus on review and direction.

@thsottiaux 1. PR management. I always reach for Claude to land a PR. Autofix w/ auto cleanup of the worktree and thread is gold. 2. Sidebar is littered with my CLI chat history. I think about them differently and wish I could hide them in the Codex app. 3. Cloud automations w/ plugins

It’s the little things that matter, what are some small papercuts you have noticed in Codex? We’ll fix as many as possible in the next week.

Spotify needs to release a “kids” setting so I can play all the songs my kids listen to without it affecting my own Discovery algorithm. Insane that I can’t do this already. My Discover Weekly is just nursery songs and Moana. @Spotify please fix this.

@thsottiaux Love Codex, will continue to be my primary. But some things Claude does better: - Autofix PRs - Syncing threads with PRs - Dispatch - Cloud routines (w/ multiple repos) Love the competition 💪
