What do people see in Trump? He's inconsistent on the issues, he's a crybaby, he's a crass jerk, and has zero substance. #NeverTrump #tcot

@FartDegree @IFK_0mega @KirPinkFury At this point in the Switch 1 life, it had maybe one more first party AAA game than Switch 2 does today. It just happened that the 1-2 punch of BotW and Odyssey were killer.

Being a Nintendo fan doesn't mean that you have to buy everything from them. If these games don't appeal to you, that's fine. What's not fine is shitting on these games for no reason. Because your trash is my treasure. I'm super excited and a lot of other ppl as well.

@Mrplaystation73 @NintyPrime They all work because they built a compatibility layer. If you ran a switch 1 game on a switch 2 without that layer, it wouldn't work. It's a different architecture.

@NintyPrime PS5 to ps5 pro is a stop gap, don't see how ps1 to ps5 is the same system. I can see the correlation from sw1 to 2. Same base system, almost all games work with it just one is more beefed up than the other.

This is just an asinine take. So NES to SNES? Same system! Ps 1 through 5? Same system. Give me a break. Switch 2 is literally 4x the cpu processing of switch and 10x the GPU performance. It also has 3x the amount of total ram with a 4x better bus speed. Plus it has faster and more internal storage. A pro model? lol. Compare this to a PS5 pro, that only had a 45% increase to the rendering. Or a new 3DS, which was about 3x as powerful as a 3DS, This is a full new generation device. Trying to call it a pro is extremely disingenuous. A pro would not be close to this much of an increase.
NintenDeen@NintenDeenYT

Not sure if you can really consider the Switch 1 and 2 different consoles tbh. It's more like a base vs Pro console comparison imo

@TheMetalSmark @spatzzzleee @Stealth40k Look I love classic 3D Zelda & OOT is my favorite game of all time, and I'm currently replaying Wind Waker. But in realistic. BotW sold more than ALL previous 3D Zelda games - combined - even if you include remasters and rereleases.

@mike_sal @spatzzzleee @Stealth40k False. Ocarina Of Time was the 4th best-selling game on N64 Wind Waker was the 4th best-selling game on Gamecube. And that's just the 3D games. Nintendo spent 30 years establishing what a Zelda game is. It wouldn't have been their 3rd biggest franchise if it didn't sell.

Miyamoto and Iwata on the origins of New Super Mario Bros. Miyamoto: No matter how far people may drift away from games, their memories of playing Mario are still with them… At that time, Mario had advanced to 3D and we would discuss the fact that there were now two different strands to the Mario series: there was the Mario that had developed in step with consoles as they had become more advanced, and there was also the basic Mario that anyone could play. When I talked about this with Tezuka-san, he said: "Right, if we make another one, it should be a side-scrolling Mario." Iwata: And that became New Super Mario Bros. for DS. Miyamoto: Right. But as you'd expect, looking at it from the perspective of those who were in step with technological developments, one could ask: "Why are you making a 2D side-scrolling game now?" And then the counter-argument would be: "We can use 3D polygon graphics, but by making a side-scrolling game, won't we be appealing to a larger number of people?" So we decided to make a Mario that made a fresh start by returning to its core principles. That's why we put "New" in the title. iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/wii…

Every post I come across on catholic twitter makes me more sympathetic to the SSPX and the Sedes. The constant nonsense out of the church leadership is staggering. My 7 year old would know better. Just tell the truth and be honest. "The Church of England has always been a schismatic sect, and their absurd actions of late simply make it more apparent that they are not in league with Christ and are actively working against him. We therefore invite all members of the Church of England of good faith, who love the Lord Jesus Christ, home to full communion with the Church of Rome founded upon Peter." That took me like 2 seconds.

JUST IN: Vatican releases photos of Pope Leo XIV’s meeting today with Sarah Mullally. In his address to her, the Pope noted that: “While much progress has been made on some historically divisive issues, new problems have arisen in recent decades, rendering the pathway to full communion more difficult to discern.” Of course, chief among these new problems is the fact that a woman dressed in liturgical attire is now being passed off — and celebrated by the Vatican and even by the Pope — as someone who seemingly has valid Orders when she doesn’t — first because she’s a woman and second because she’s an Anglican. So much so that, during her visit to St. Peter’s Basilica on Sunday, a Vatican official (Archbishop Flavio Pace, Secretary of the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity) bowed before her in the Clementine Chapel — one of the most sacred places in the Vatican grottoes, located just next to the tomb of St. Peter — and made the Sign of the Cross as though receiving a real blessing from her. Absolutely absurd. More photos and full address here: vatican.va/content/leo-xi…

"It took 9 seconds." 9 seconds for the AI to delete everything. 9 months of warnings ignored about agentic AI in prod. 9 layers of missing safeguards from Railway & Cursor. The AI was the finger on the trigger. Humans built the gun, loaded it, and handed it over. Wake-up call for every dev giving AI agents production access.

Anthropic has 454 open roles. The company is hiring software engineers at $320K-$405K. Their CEO, Dario, said three months ago that coding is "going away first, then all of software engineering." The paradox resolves instantly. Dario's engineers told him they don't write code anymore. They let Claude write it. They edit. They review. They architect. They didn't lose their jobs. They got faster. Anthropic grew from a small research lab to 1,500 employees in four years, adding engineers the entire time. This has played out five times in computing history. Compilers replaced assembly. Frameworks replaced boilerplate. Cloud replaced server management. Every prediction was the same: most programmers won't be needed. Every result was the same: the number of engineers grew. The global software engineer pool went from roughly 5 million in 2010 to 28.7 million today. BLS projects 17% growth in US software developer roles through 2033, adding 304,000 positions. The pool is projected to hit 45 million by 2030. When building software gets cheaper, more problems become worth solving with software. A startup that needed 10 engineers now needs 3. But 50 companies that couldn't afford to build at all now can. The denominator shrinks. The numerator explodes. Meta's engineering headcount is up 19% from January 2022. Google's is up 16%. Apple, 13%. These companies adopted AI coding tools years ago. They're using Copilot and Claude Code daily. They're hiring more engineers than before those tools existed. Every generation of "coding is dead" content creates two cohorts: engineers who freeze up, and engineers who build 10x more with the new tools. The second group has won every single time.

@trickydickpol @ReasonTheology @Pontifex Jesus did not say we must follow the laws of the earth. In fact it's church teaching that we can't follow an unjust law. No one is saying we can't have immigration laws. But Church teaching says that they have to be just laws (welcoming by nature) and be enforced *humanely*.

Jesus also says you must follow the laws on earth. Which illegal aliens are not doing. They also knowingly lie to claim asylum harming real asylum seekers.

Barron says a Catholic can disagree with the concrete application of moral doctrine - suggesting one can disagree with the pope’s condemnation of this war (I guess he is done telling us the pope is just condemning war in general). I find this argument fascinating because it is the EXACT argument used by the liberal German bishops who reject Humanae Vitae and the Church’s teaching on contraception. If Barron gets to disagree with the pope on this war, then the liberals will say they get to reject the pope on contraception. Barron will try to say the two are not the same but that is what everyone does when they are inconsistent. And the idea that Trump stands up for religious liberty is laughable since he knows very well that two women quit Trump’s religious liberty commission because he doesn’t stand up for it. See my interview with one of them here: youtu.be/su-7nvQ2P3g?si… And yes, the president owes the pope an apology, but so does Barron for failing to rebuke the president earlier and for shamelessly being led in prayer by the cult prophetess Paula White. And since we are talking about owed apologies - where’s my apology? Barron just came into my comment section crying “calumny” only to be now forced to acknowledge what I was telling him. See here for more on that: youtu.be/_1rAiXwAfCQ?si… @SameerahMunshi @CarriePrejean1

Bishop Robert Barron@BishopBarron

The statements made by President Trump on Truth Social regarding the Pope were entirely inappropriate and disrespectful. They don’t contribute at all to a constructive conversation. It is the Pope’s prerogative to articulate Catholic doctrine and the principles that govern the moral life. In regard to the concrete application of those principles, people of good will can and do disagree. I would warmly recommend that serious Catholics within the Trump administration–Secretary Rubio, Vice President Vance, Ambassador Brian Burch, and others–might meet with Vatican officials so that a real dialogue can take place. This is far preferable to the statements on social media. I am very grateful for the many ways that the Trump administration has reached out to Catholics and other people of faith. It has been a high honor to serve on the Religious Liberty Commission. No President in my lifetime has shown a greater dedication to defending our first liberty. All that said, I think the President owes the Pope an apology.

Humanae Vitae quite explicitly states that the conjugal act, deliberately deprived of its fecundity, is INTRINSICALLY dishonorable: Quapropter erret omnino, qui arbitretur coniugalem actum, sua fecunditate ex industria destitutum, ideoque intrinsece inhonestum, fecundis totius coniugum vitae congressionibus comprobari posse.

“I find this argument fascinating because it is the EXACT argument used by the liberal German bishops who reject Humanae Vitae and the Church’s teaching on contraception.” I fail to see the argument’s applicability to the case of contraception. Humanae Vitae sets forth an inviolable principle, not a prudential judgement about a particular set of historical circumstances.

@Darth_Fidelis @TD_Barrett @ReasonTheology It's precisely wrong. The prohibition against Contraception is the application of specific moral principles around the dignity of marriage and the designed purposes of sex. It is not, in and of itself, a moral principle. Any first year theology student would know that.
