The rocket and its expanding exhaust plumes are being illuminated by the sun, which may produce lingering noctilucent clouds for some viewers. GOOD NEWS 🚨 Jefferies has bumped its $TSLA price target from $375 to $400 whilst keeping a steady 'Hold' rating 🔥 This update comes after Tesla blew past expectations by delivering 480,100 vehicles in the second quarter, comfortably crushing Wall Street’s average estimate of 406,000. The broker noted that strong demand across China and Europe proves drivers still highly value Tesla's cars, even as the broader car industry faces increasing competition and commoditisation. Jefferies highlights that Tesla’s multi-year decline in growth and earnings is finally turning around, projecting total company revenue to hit $28.7bn for the quarter. The vast majority of that ($21bn) comes straight from car sales and leases, which includes $250m from selling zero-emission regulatory credits to rival automakers who need them. From that revenue, Jefferies projects an operating profit (EBIT) of $1.45bn. That gives Tesla a 5.1% profit margin—meaning they pocket just over 5 cents of pure profit for every dollar brought in. Looking ahead to 2026, full-year operating profit estimates were boosted by 4% to $6.2bn, driven by strong overall volumes and the popularity of the higher-priced, long-wheelbase Model Y. Financially, Tesla is spending big, sinking $6.9bn into factories and equipment (capital expenditure) this quarter alone. Because Tesla sold more cars than it built, clearing out existing inventory will provide a quick cash boost, leaving the company with a massive $41.7bn in available cash. However, Jefferies still expects an overall cash drain (free cash flow outflow) of $7.5bn for the full year, given that Tesla plans to spend a staggering $23bn in total capex on long-term expansion. When it comes to autonomy, the firm urged caution. Low early production targets for the Cybercab suggest further delays for the long-awaited robotaxi rollout. Finally, Jefferies reiterated the strategic logic of merging Tesla with SpaceX. In this scenario, it would be a "nil-premium" merger, essentially a straight stock swap with no extra cash paid upfront. Elon Musk would keep a 55.3% controlling voting stake in the combined entity, but the structure could still leave room for Tesla shareholders to receive a premium payout.
