You just said, "The problem was never AI in general, just generative AI." I then provided you with a perfectly valid answer. The issue isn't generative AI; rather, it's that things are advancing faster than the rules we need to regulate them. It's similar to when we had the ability to fly planes before the establishment of air traffic controllers. I sympathize with artists because I love art. I just wish all this energy were directed toward creating laws to address the issues, instead of simply saying, "AI is bad/lazy," as that literally does nothing.

@DadScrub @Internet3njoyer @SpookyZombae when you get artists on twitter with MOST of them earning their salary trough it, only for someone to steal from them by putting it into a little prompt that "supposedly takes skill" (we all learned to write in school, that's not a skill.) you do get a lot of hate for it.

Generative AI is used in a lot of that stuff though?? Like what on earth are you talking about? Its used in assisting in drug discovery and developing personalized treatment plans. You just see shit ai art and then thats all that generative AI is used for, when its not. Companies art making huge data centres for dogshit artist that use fake ai art to win art comps

This isn’t actually a pretty bad take ngl. People for whatever reason think is just “asking it to draw/make a video” AI is used in so many things and has revolutionized a lot of things: 1. Efficiency and Automation: AI automates repetitive tasks, allowing humans to focus on more complex and creative work. This leads to higher productivity and innovation. 2. Healthcare Advancements: AI enhances medical diagnostics, personalizes treatment plans, and predicts disease outbreaks, leading to better patient outcomes. 3. Improved Communication: AI-powered translation services bridge language barriers, facilitating global communication and collaboration. 4. Data Analysis: AI processes vast amounts of data quickly, uncovering insights that can drive better decision-making in industries like finance, marketing, and science. I just listed a few things that AI has helped improve but there is way more. For whatever reason people like LLMs like ChatGPT is all that ai is when that’s not even close. Obviously the average joe won’t know why company’s are pushing for it but if your first thought of AI is LLM then your missing the point. LLM are just level on of the iceberg. AI can take for example someone’s symptoms and then go through every single possibly cause to help diagnose something. No doctor can do that, that’s why they usually go for the most likely source then work down. I get that artist are frustrated about ai art and privacy but your rage at the tool and not the policy that let that tool go unchecked. No amount of twitter posts will stop AI but what we can do is stop how is being misused. I’ve been programming for a few years now and I can assure you that it make a lot of super repetitive tasks insanely easy.
