The idea that a pulp novel can’t tackle larger themes (not that it’s a particularly thematically rich text) is also silly. The godfather for example?

@mingeynahanim @JayCaruso I disagree. I think it's one of the best novels of its time. Now, is it one of the greatest novels ever? Is it up there with Tolstoy? No. But it's also a different category of novel. I wouldn't call it pulpy, it's too lengthy and wrestles with too many great ideas to be pulpy.
