@ChrisRGun It's actually kind of human nature, tbh. Most of us have a built in feature where we focus on the negative. Logically, that means we focus on the most negative things. Legitimate criticism will naturally be lost as the racism is focused on.

One of the worst things about Disney is that they’ve perfected the weaponization of social justice in service of their bottom line. Criticize The Little Mermaid for being redundant and soulless? You just hate the black actress. Then the movie becomes “a cause.” Genuinely gross.

We're always so careful about how we phrase gun control. The right is so rabid about the topic that we have to tiptoe around the whole thing and little of substance ever gets done. It's honestly pretty maddening.

@ben_vancamp @TomSweeneyINC There's nothing particularly clever about taking a saying and translating its meaning in a literal way. The phrase "shit eating grin" takes on a whole new horrifying meaning if you take it literally.

I don't have a ton of interest in dystopian scifi. Why would I? We currently live in a dystopia. Of course the future is going to be dystopian, nothing's going to change.

@ChrisRGun These people will make a story out of anything. If the movie did have slavery, they'd be whining about how it wasn't a realistic depiction. If it was realistic enough, they'd decide they were upset about somehow promoting racism. They don't care, they just want money.
