@gushamilton @BradSpellberg In my Peds experience, and the rates of CRO-R S pneumo are a lot higher than one might expect. >10% in my hospital, while ~5% in the adult hospital across the road.

Interesting! 20% resistance to CRO. I wonder how much this resistance really affects tx for CNS infection. Suspect you'd still get enough drug and that R would be overcome. I think @BradSpellberg had a view on this (may be wrong)

Does anyone else work at a hospital where the surgery residents swear that 1x doses of ertapenem are standard of care and required for management of uncomplicated appendicitis? Tired of seeing the same study cited by them as justification for this as opposed to ceftriaxone

1/2 Dr. Shruti Gohil @UCIrvineHealth presented INSPIRE data on intra-abdominal infections (IAIs) at #IDWeek2024. IAIs involve diverse organs/spaces. Yet, only 1% (+) for MRSA and another 1% (+) for Pseudomonas, despite 63% of patients getting empiric broad-spectrum abx treatment.
