Confluence is a corporate wiki without a working search function. What is the point of a wiki with no search? What are better alternatives out there?

@typesfast @nichochar Glean focuses on search and doesn’t do any content authoring. You can use @Guru_HQ for both.

@typesfast @Trace_Cohen Confluence is decent because it has an extensible layer via its plug-in architecture and it’s so integrated into jira which makes it easier for product and engineering to document information. However it’s still a repository of information with no management so it grows to chaos

@typesfast @mlevkov @algolia To a degree - but at some point you have to look at the source of the information you are searching to improve search.

@typesfast We used notion at deliverr, but search was even worst than confluence

@typesfast @zzimbler Agree - the recent Bard enhancement may help but the underlying problem of Google Docs being a storage of information across a multitude of years creates a hard search problem to solve. When you want to find the right information you get results that are from years ago

@zzimbler Search also doenst work very well in google drive

@typesfast @peterchng @zzimbler Searching within the internet is different than searching within a small set of knowledge. Internet search is tuned to billions of pages. Internal search is 1,000s of docs. It’s a harder problem to solve.

@buccocapital @typesfast Glean just exposes the sheer amount of information you have. It doesn’t help you with knowledge.

@typesfast You need to add Glean or something like it on top, unfortunately. More software to search the stuff in your software

@typesfast @radoshi @glean Google docs can’t solve it because of the diaspora of knowledge within google docs. To make search really good you need systems that help you curate the accurate knowledge in your content
