School boards across the province are facing deficits and being forced to make cuts on already strained SpecEd programming. This is a direct result of this gov'ts underfunding of education and once again it's our most vulnerable students who pay the price. windsorstar.com/news/local-new…

@donovanscience I always told elementary teachers that if a student could Google a test question then the question was the problem; not the technology.

A fear that I have is that people are so quick to worry about a student using technology for cheating that they block things or move away from any technology, even if that tech can help a student learn better than they were able to before. Pedagogy before fear.

BREAKING: Ford gov has taken over $1.3 billion out of public education funding & deliberately hid the cuts under a "Planned Provision" item! This means Ford has cut $1500 per student in #OntEd funding since 2018. Really shows their commitment to transparency 😡 #OSSTF #OnPoli

Thanks to government funding cuts, over 100 of our teachers have found out that their jobs have been cut. Literally pink-slipped. Unemployed. This has not happened locally since the Mike Harris days. Please send all of the puppies and kittens.

The 407 runs parallel to the 413 & is dramatically under-utilized. Ford could improve traffic TODAY for much LESS — but wants to WASTE $10 BILLION for a Highway that ISN’T needed & WON’T reduce traffic time. The 413 is more Ford corruption. StopHim. InvestigateHim. OustHim!!

MInister of Transportation Caroline Mulroney lawyer stated the costs of #Hwy413 cannot override cabinet secrecy. However, MTO revealed that just one kilometre-long section of #Hwy413 spanning the Humber River could cost Ontarians as much as $444 million. thestar.com/opinion/contri…

In 2024-2025, Ontario will have 4,990 fewer classroom educators than it would have had if the funding formula hadn’t changed since 2018-19. Public education isn't being funded properly and students and staff are paying the price. #onted #cdned #edchat monitormag.ca/articles/ontar…

"Many schools have policies in place regarding cellphones. They are an issue and we totally support addressing mental health issues in the schools, bullying and harassement, but I’m not really sure how a ban is going to solve the prolems that we currently have in education,"

The @OntAutism was at QP yesterday and had once again requested to meet with @Sflecce . Infact, we’ve tried 3 times in the last yr to meet with him. It might be nice if he also considered Spec Ed to be worthy of his time! I guess autistic kids can’t compete with cell phones.
Stephen Lecce@Sflecce

Appreciate the advice of parents on the need to crack down on vaping and cell phone usage in class. Going #BackToBasics starts with keeping students focused on the curriculum by removing distractions. Great discussion on mental health, cyberbullying, and the importance of empowering parents to speak with their children to elevate values of respect, personal responsibility, and safety. This will help change the mindset and culture in schools.

The Ford government’s story is unravelling. Opening up the Greenbelt had nothing to do with housing and everything to do with a bunch of rich guys making backroom deals to make themselves even richer.

Wow, #tvdsb! Can you please justify why @DirFisherTVDSB is worth $326,291? That's a 15.3% increase over the previous year. Remind me again how much (or should I say little) #cupe members received last year? #onted, notice how there isn't a director of education shortage?

@ETFOeducators @JustinTrudeau This is simply a bandaid that does not address the root cause of the problem - food insecurity and the skyrocketing cost of basic necessities.

Yesterday, PM @JustinTrudeau announced Canada’s first National School Food Program. This significant federal investment of $1 billion over five years will provide meals to 400,000 more children every year. “By investing in this program, the federal government is demonstrating its commitment to the well-being of Canada's youth and the nation’s prosperity,” says @ETFOpresident. “However, for the program to be successful, the funds must be administered efficiently and effectively. Ontarians cannot afford another failed implementation by the Ford government akin to its mismanagement of federal child care funding, which led to delays and frustration.” #onted #onpoli 1/3
