The question is not whether a policy sounds balanced or politically safe. The question is whether it delivers what the country needs. It’s time to embrace energy realism. My latest op-ed for RealClearEnergy Link below ⬇️

You may see headlines saying “200 gallons of oil leaked at the Monticello nuclear plant.” Let’s add some context because the headline is missing important details, @Fox9 Short thread 🧵

“I’ve never supported all of the above because if something is going to make energy more expensive and less reliable I’m not for that.” — @SecretaryWright The time of energy realism is upon us!

Dear Climate Alarmists: You have a MESSAGE problem. You claim there's a climate crisis, yet no prediction comes true. You claim wildlife and forests are dying, despite new species being discovered and more forest growth today than before. You demand, by coercion via regulation, fossil fuel and house appliance bans. Yet, coal, oil, and gas rescues your precious renewables. Climate alarmism is dead, long live energy abundance!
Sheldon Whitehouse@SenWhitehouse

Let me offer a slight rebuttal on climate politics, beginning with us (enviros and Dems) having done a terrible job on climate communication for a long time. A legacy of bad work is not reason to stop work, it’s reason to do better work. 🧵 nytimes.com/2026/02/25/opi…

What kept New England’s grid from failing during Winter Storm Fern? As temperatures plunged and demand spiked, oil generation surged and carried a major share of ISO-NE’s electricity. Natural gas hit infrastructure limits. Wind and solar shrank in the cold. When it mattered most, oil was there and the grid depended on it.

Seems like the Blue States with the High Rates should consider building some more natural gas pipelines

The Obama Admin couldn’t get the votes needed in Congress to amend the Clean Air Act and regulate greenhouse gases, so without hesitation they decided to just ignore the law and jam through trillions in regulatory costs on the American people.   The Trump Admin is proudly following the law, saving $1.3 TRILLION for the American people, lowering new car costs by over $2,400 per vehicle, and getting rid of the climate participation trophy for manufacturers to install Obama Switches that shut vehicles off at red lights and stop signs. Period.
Barack Obama@BarackObama

Today, the Trump administration repealed the endangerment finding: the ruling that served as the basis for limits on tailpipe emissions and power plant rules. Without it, we’ll be less safe, less healthy and less able to fight climate change — all so the fossil fuel industry can make even more money.

Happy Endangerment Finding Repeal Day to all who celebrate! 🥳 To any and all climate panicans going apoplectic: your fearmongering isn't working anymore. Clean air, water, and lands can CO-EXIST with energy deregulation. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

The most recent NERC reliability assessment vindicates what I’ve been saying for years. As say in @TheFP, decades of gridrot has left America unprepared for growth for the first time in its history. Data centers are exposing, not causing grid problems. thefp.com/p/data-centers…

Perhaps the rest of the quote is merited here, no? "The overall resource adequacy outlook for the North American BPS is worsening... Most new resources in development to come on-line in the next five years consist of battery storage and solar photovoltaic (PV), which are inverter-based and weather-dependent resources that increase the complexity of planning and operating a reliable grid. Meanwhile, more fossil-fired generator retirements loom in the next five years, reducing the amount of generation that has fuel on site and impacting the system’s ability to respond to spikes in demand."
Ben Norris@BenNorrisIV

"NERC also warned that new resources — which will largely consist of battery storage and solar in the next five years — and transmission are not being built quickly enough" This isn't because of the last administration--this is on the current one. subscriber.politicopro.com/article/2026/0…

Quebec shut the power off to New England last weekend as its own demand surged. I’d just like to point out that @mitchrolling and I warned of this possibility in our 2024 report on New England’s decarb/electrocute everything policies.

Myth: We need solar and wind to add electricity "capacity" ASAP. Truth: We already have record levels of "capacity" when that term is abused to include unreliable solar/wind. What we need more of is *reliable* capacity, which has been declining for 10+ years.
