AI can be a game-changer for human rights: it can predict crises, transform healthcare and education, tackle food insecurity, and more. But to achieve this, we need to embed human rights in #AI by design, and invest in AI that puts rights first. ➡️ ohchr.org/en/statements-…

Elevating The Gambia’s Voice @ the #HRC61 side event: “Advancing Accountability and Justice for the Durable Solution of the Rohingya Crisis” Co-organized by the Delegation of the European Union to the UN and other international organisations in Geneva and the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh.  The humanitarian crises, relentless campaign of repression and systematic denial of fundamental rights of the people of Myanmar represents one of the biggest human rights challenges of our time. The Gambia is particularly concerned by the escalating violence against civilians, forced recruitment and sexual violence perpetrated by all parties to the conflict.’   We remain deeply concerned by the continued suffering of the Rohingya Muslim minority. Nearly a decade after the commencement of the genocidal violence against them, it is disheartening to note that millions remain displaced, stateless, persecuted, and vulnerable to life threatening health complications. We note with serious concern reports of waning international support for the people of Myanmar and the political will to ensure accountability for grave human rights violations. Accountability remains the only safeguard against further atrocities and for ensuring justice for all victims. In this regard, The Gambia reiterates the importance of international efforts to hold the Myanmar Junta to account, including the ongoing proceedings before the International Court of Justice.  #thegambia #HRC61 #Rohingya #Myanmar #RohingyaMuslimMinority @Info_Ministry_ @GMGenevaMission @Presidency_GMB @MOFAGambia @UN_HRC @OVP_gm @UniOfGambia @Gambia_MOJ

Honored to have shared a moment with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres during his visit to Geneva for the opening of the Human Rights Council’s 61st session High-Level Segment and the launch of the new Visitors’ Gateway to the UN. In what may be his final address to the Council before the end of his mandate, SG Guterres delivered inspiring remarks on global human rights priorities. This annual segment brings together heads of state, government officials, and dignitaries from over 120 UN Member States, fostering pivotal dialogues on our shared future. Grateful for the opportunity to engage in these vital discussions. #UNHRC #HumanRights #Geneva #UnitedNations #AntónioGuterres @Gambia_MOJ @OVP_gm @Info_Ministry_ @MOFAGambia @Presidency_GMB

As a multilateral diplomat in Geneva @GMGenevaMission , I express deep concern over the escalating crisis in Iran and the Middle East region. We urge swift de-escalation, restoration of peace, security, and stability, and protection of lives and property. Let constructive dialogue? Negotiations and pragmatic diplomacy guide all parties to normalcy. #PeaceInMiddleEast @MofeaGambia @Presidency_GMB @OVP_gm @Info_Ministry_ @un @UN_HRC @volker_turk @antonioguterres @RGrynspan @NOIweala

Brilliant Memories ✨ Thank you Facebook! Exactly 10 years ago, I received one of my most treasured honors — a Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) from the University of The Gambia, just one year after serving as its 3rd Vice Chancellor and the first Gambian to lead our beloved institution. With profound gratitude and humble pride 🙏🏽, I thank the University and its entire community for the trust and opportunity to serve and contribute to its growth and transformation. This recognition continues to inspire me. Thank you, University of The Gambia. Picture#1:- Prof.Muhammadou M.O.
