It is irreverent, disrespectful, false-- because you don't get your citizen's promises fulfilled. What you bought was someone else's pathway to self-serving power. It works violently, because your disappointment will turn to bitterness, then to violence when the politician who bought you spit on you when you ask about the stalled projects, why you were turned away at the hospital, why your child cannot report to school. They will appease you on Christmas with a packet of unga and cooking oil, with money they stole, and you will be too tired to protest, you will not want to display the indignity you feel because you fear being called ungrateful.
