@testobsessed My money is on LED bulbs that aren’t rated for enclosed fixtures and are overheating.

@nota_bennett The only obstacle to scale we encountered was the $$$$ per GB that Splunk charged.

@mkocher And one of the more useful things I ever did with Honeycomb was show the Garden team just how many of the platform's logs was their components saying "hi! I'm here!"

Functionally, this means something I can throw arbitrary structured data into and find both patterns and weird outlier events quickly.

@nota_bennett I used to use Splunk for this, with all log lines formatted as k/v pairs. The learning curve was steep to get beyond using it as grep but it was amazing once there.

Technically, as far as I currently know, this requires fast searches on arbitrarily wide events with high cardinality fields, without pre-defining indexes.

Today’s question, why do folks choose JavaScript, or any derivative like Typescript, for production systems? Exhibit #1, default sorting behavior on an array is to sort by string order, regardless of data type in the array. 😳

I've just taken seven days off work, to recharge my batteries and take care of my mental health. Tonight, I found myself watching YouTube videos doing comparisons of different brands of gaffer tape. I take that as a strong signal that it's time to get back to work.

@terronk Those security strips must be cheaper than tape. They’ve become a standard way to seal delivery food in NY in the last month.

Not that I’m worried about this, but... This box was delivered to me with a flap open but a piece of tape that seems to use US currency level security still intact.
